Lake Benath
Lake Benath provides several species of fish that are dried, smoked, pickled,
or salted for export down the river. Some fish are harvested for oils used
in perfume manufacture.
Laketta
The seventh emperor of the Corani Empire. A sensualist disinterested in
government. Died in 443 and caused a succession of crisis. Last of his line
as ruler. Kobar's son, Laketta, was a sensualist who was disinterested in
government.
Larani
Shield Maiden of the Worthy Cause, Guardian of Dolithor, Protector of the
Brave, Lady of Paladins, The Unwilling Warrior.
The Thardic Legions
The largest standing army on the island, the Thardic Legion is as much as
social entity as serving in it is a right of passage marking trueborn Thardians
from foreigners.
Lepral of Telen
Second Autarch (643-50) was greatly relieved when Alruns attention
moved to the southwest. This left him free to concentrate on the internal
problems of the banditry. He successfully wiped out most of the bandits in
the League. Only the brigands of the Hefiosa Hills survived. [Tharda 2]
Lia-Kavair
The thieves Guild. A notorious
yet loosely organized group of gangs, cut-throats, and thugs. Some believe
this organization to be everywhere and involved in every form of racket and
corruption. Others think them only small bands of cut-purses.
Lothrim the Foulspawner
Thardic tribes were subjugated by the Empire as tributary "allies" in the
first and second centuries. In the wake of Lothrim's fall, several petty states
rose and fell, but none received any degree of permanence until the fourth
century. [Tharda 1]
