Algir of Telen
Algir of Telen was the sixth Autarch of the Thardic League (668-674TR). History recalls him as an arrogant monarch, even though he was never crowned. The senate of his time despised him, calling him king (small k), and petty tirant both openly in the senate and in the streets. In one, memorable, event he stood before the assembled senate and drew a line across a map. In this way he annexed Ramala and Athul (as far east as the River Geleme). The senate flew into an uproar, demanding at least a vote upon the idea of taking the league to war, but Algir ignored them.
He is remembered best for provoking the Salt War with Kaldor. Taking senate-allocated funds for the repair and defense of Moleryn, he raised an army and marched to Kaldor. The senate demanded his de-thronment, but again they were ignored. Outraged the senate did everything possible to spoil his campaign. And yet, at the Battle of Chelna Gap (672), he won. With such a victory, and the people's aclaim, the senate was forced to stifle their rage. In 673TR, Kaldor defeated the League's forces in the Battle of Ramala. The loss was devastating as Kaldor insisted on recieving both trade and territorial concessions when the League sued for peace. This destroyed Algir's popularity. In an attempt to repair his reputation, Algir held a series of treason trials which executed 43 officers for cowardice under fire and disobediance of orders. The populace was outraged. Most of the survivors of the battle told stories of Tarestir, the deputy commander of the Autarch's Guard, and Algir's son, as a coward who could neither lead nor follow orders under fire. He was not even charged.
With the army vergining on mutany and the populace rioting, the senate demanded Algir step down. Instead he declared martial law and issued charges against the most vocal of the senators; whom he blamed for the populace rioting against his so called "monarchical pretensions". His bodyguard assasinated him before his charges could be issued, or a senator arrested. The following day the assassins brought the warrants with Aglir's signature and seal affixed to both senates; proving Algir a trator to the senate. The day after that both senates passed identical motions abolishing the Autarchy and establishing a joint commission to establish a unified Republic. [Tharda 3]

[Tharda 2] In current vernacular it is a common name given to a powerful enemy. E.G.: Senator Wytel is my Arlun.

Arelora
Queen of Kanday from 665TR to 668. Arelora took command of Kanday's demoralized army and was able to stop the Thardic Leagues advances in the Five Year War. She took personal command of the demoralized army and stared to push Autarch Cloura's (661TR-???) Guard back. In 665 at the Battle of Eidru, she captured first Eidru then Kuseme when the panicked Guards fleeing her forces failed to close the gates fast enough to bar her advancing knights. Colura and the remnants of the guard retreated to Coranan and managed to raise Kobar Bridge. By the terms of the Peace of Quivum in 666, Kanday annexed Kuseme and Eidru, regained Ibonost but the League kept Moleyn. [Tharda 3]

Arosta
Youngest son of Raelan, the third ruler of the Corani Empire, he ruled from 365TR to 380TR. He saved the kingdom from the Hefiosa tribes, defeating them in the Battle of Osten in 367 and virtually exterminated them by 369. Following this triumph, Arosta advanced east to Lake Benath, defeating the Shira tribes at the Battle of the Sources in 372 and the Komii tribes the following year. Near the end of his reign, Arosta completed his conquest of the Thard River valley by defeating the Merdi tribal federation at the Battle of Hereg. When he died in 380TR, he left behind a kingdom, which had more than tripled in size. [Tharda 3]

Autarch
For seven years, the elected Autarch would be the leader of the Guard, the Thardic League's military force. By tradition, the commander of the Guard became the next Autarch. All officers of the guard were appointed by the Autarch. Since only the Senates could appropriate taxes for the League's use, they had considerable theoretical and practical influences on the policies of the Autarch. [Tharda 2] The reign of the Autarch ended when Algir (in 673) put forth warrants for the arrest of several Senators on treason charges. Before any arrests could be made, members of his bodyguard assassinated him. The day after the assassination, both Senates passed identical motions abolishing the Autarchy and establishing a joint commission to establish a unified Republic. [Tharda 3]
