Orvi is an average looking man slightly above the average height (6’) and of massive frame. While not fat, he is large and carries himself well. He has short grey hair that curls when it grows too long. His eyes are a cloudy brown that many fear means encroaching blindness.

In his earlier days he gained a reputation for reading everything he could find. Now a specially trained slave follows him everywhere, reading in a soft voice any paper place before his master. While Orvi claims this service is merely an affectation, in truth Orvi is already too blind to read the words on a printed page (EYE 5). He can barely see at night, and in the day has only enough sight to see people and obstacles.

Orvi is unmarried. Born on 30th of Halane, he is a strong supporter of the Halean church. He was the second of 3 children, but grew up in his cousin, Tierga’s, household. He believes in keeping his word and adherence to the written laws, both traits are considered rare for a senator.

Orvi is outspoken and has many enemies. He sees himself as a crusader intent on removing the corruption in the legion and land management in Tharda. He has a small residence in Gevul, but resides in his cousin’s house in Coranan for most of the year.

Annalise likes the old man, insisting he will make a good uncle when the time comes. Orvi knows he has several illegitimate children around town, and has offered a few of them quietly to Tierga for adoption/ recognition. Orvi assures that all of his children join the legion as full timers. He supplies them with a fine suit of armor and sees to it that they are protected during training. Beyond that he feels he owes them nothing. Orvi has, himself, never served in the legion, but does not consider this to be one of his failings. He is a good, if impassioned, speaker.
