A Player's Handout in Pax Tharda

The following is a list of rumors circulating at the end of Savor-begining of Ilven in the year 718TR. Some are true, some are not, most are garbled. Feel free to expand and make up more rumors amongst yourselves.

  1. The senate wants the entire Salt Route paved as soon as possible. Thus Magistrate-Marshal Kronos will get his appointment to Ramala in 722TR. Currently they're letting Parga Ostardes (current Legatus there) handle the situation; but Parga does not have the skill to remedy the problem.
  2. Obviously Clan Nordaka is torn. Do they force the Magistrate-Marshal into taking Ramala (by making him choose amongst his titles) or do they just leave him to rot in Eidel province? Either could provide equal profit. They want a port town built in an attempt to divert trade from crossing Kaldor.
  3. Marshal-Magistrate Kronos is getting rich overseeing all these treason trials. If you're a legionnaire and want money - get assigned to his forces. If it weren't for the White Rose stealing nobles away from Madame Noose - it would be easy work.
  4. Heros walk among us. Did you hear? One legionnaire is said to talk to animals. Boy can he ever help. Maybe he should get the pigeons around the senate to give us updates about what really is going on.
  5. There's serious trouble brewing along the Tharda and Rethem border. Everyone can hear scabbards clattering as the two countries brace for war.
  6. The tribesmen of Ramala are a constant problem. Not just to the legion and Tharda but to the Peonian church as well. Seems four messengers have been lost to tribal incursions this year alone. The Western Worship of Peoni in Hârn wants to separate from the Eastern church. There is some rumor that the messengers were received in Tashal, but that the Peonian Cardinal refuses to acknowledge Sister Anna of Coranan's letters or concerns. Sister Anna has sent a copy of her letter by sea to the Pontif on Lythia.
  7. If you really want to earn some money hang out with Caius and Toribir. Caius' group brought in the most money all season. And he's the guy that already won the mantle last season. Some guys have all the luck.
  8. Didn't you know? Toribir is a master smuggler. Whatever you need, he can get it.
  9. The Cohorts of Gashang were set up by the Order of Herpa the Red Mace to look like they were causing trouble in Rethem. Agrikan knights terrorized border towns, chasing the inhabitants away with cloaks of fire and steeds of nightmares. The Legion eventually established order.
  10. There's a Gargun army attacking North-Western Tharda. Yet another problem to deplete the legion's forces.
  11. The legion has a troop of Centaurin archers - formed this year from a colony of Centaurin discovered in Kom province.
  12. Of course all Milities Fabrica are mages. Who told you otherwise?
  13. Shiran is suffering from a mysterious rash of burglaries. The thief only steals silver of the highest artistic quality. So far he's hit 8 important homes - even robbing the temple of Halea of its silver likeness of the goddess. The Lia-Kavir claims to have no knowledge of the thefts.
  14. Kronos has at last been granted the Ramala region. He will be taking all the vetran legionnaires from the western provinces into Ramala as the first phase of his plan.
  15. Heros walk among us. There's this one guy - he apparently has so much loot that Nevil has to lock it away for him every night. Swords of Mythril, Shields of Gold and Books that Talk! Now that would be worth steeling eh?
  16. The Nordakas have had enough problems trying to push a road through the forests of ___. They will be taking all the vetrans, and a good chunk of the Auxillari from the western provinces to finish this project once and for all. The winter call-up is a way to find out just how many Auxillari will be needed to hold the border.
  17. It's a Senatorial attempt to make the region safer for trade. It really is just an attempt to get rid of all the bandits. It's ill-thought-out and ill advized for numerous reasons, but there is no coverup or conspiracy.
  18. It's all a conspiracy. A few Senators want to make it look like they're trying to do something against the bandits, but really the bandits are hired by opposing clans to cause chaos and loss of profit for their enemies. So these Senators don't want to do anything effective against the bandits.
  19. Paladins are among us. Seems that the old guy in Fobin - the visiting knight? He's been training a few special assasins. These folk will be the vanguard in whatever is coming.
  20. Kronos has at last been proven to be the traitor all _true_ Thardians knew him to be. The vetrans of the western provinces will march in to Eidel region and arrest him, taking him from his stronghold in chains and dragging him to Coranan for trial. Keeping Eidel legion busy throughout this period is important, thus the strange orders from Coranan.
  21. It's a feint - the eastern legions are preparing for war against Kaldor at last - to march up the Salt Route and take the Trobridge Inn once and for all. To put Kaldor in a state of relaxation, the western provinces are making noise for war.
  22. There are mages amongst us. Watch who you speak ill to - you may wake up as a bird. I saw this one legionnaire the other day in a full conversation with a river falcon. So I know it could happen. Poor guy.
  23. It will be a push north when it finally comes. Didn't you hear about the emergency call up in the fall against a gargun hoard. They've been spotted in and around Kom province and the Kom district legar has asked for assistance.
  24. Magical swords - I tell you most of the vetrans have magical swords of some type. Then again, if I was a full time legionnaire that's what I'd want too.
  25. It will be a push south - to take more land from Dozing Anasin, king of Kanday. Kronos did it - why can't we?
  26. It will be a push east - to retake Themeson from the Agrikans. At long last the dead will be avenged.
