HarnForum Software Update - May 2015

#1 Post by Leitchy » Sun May 31, 2015 3:35 pm

The forum software has been successfully updated with (as far as I can tell) no lost data, but there are some visual differences. You'll have to get used to the user data being on the right instead of the left; why that was considered necessary I don't know, but it's not something I can change. At least the site looks mostly similar to how it looked just yesterday. The important thing is that it's the latest software, is more secure, and I'll be sure to keep it more up-to-date than I did over the last couple of years. :)

There are also some features not available as yet, like Tapatalk. I dunno how many of you use that feature, but it appears to have some issues with the new version. From my research I can tell the developers of Tapatalk are working very hard to find solutions, so I hope to have this module installed soon.

In the meantime, if you have any problems, please let me know. The contact email is a Gmail address that starts with HARNFORUM in front of the "at" symbol. I'm sure you can figure it out.

Seems to be working here though I'll have to get used the user info being on the right side of the screen now.

It's different but very clean. I like it. Thanks for the update, Leitchy!

Call me old fashioned but I sort of like the old way. BUT given that I'm not in control here, I have to get use to it.

Renders much better on a mobile device, and editing a post is actually stable. Thanks for work, Peter. :D

zrayaan, you're right. I hadn't considered that angle but being able to render properly on a mobile device is a big boost to the site's usability. And yes, it looks pretty nice -- and edits well -- on my new Galaxy Note Edge.

Purely unintended on my part but very nice of the style authors to include that feature. :)

Working for me. Different, but nice.
Ok, let me get this straight. These guys come in, trash the place, slap Agrik & Larani around, and the most intelligible thing they said was "Zog!"?

One concern came up. You can't seem to PM quote a thread via the mobile view anymore. Previously you would click the PM link next to the posters name and it would quote their post and provide a link to the message in the PM body.

I never even knew that was a thing in the old world. :) It is something you can do on a computer (I'll try a tablet tonight), but I couldn't find any way of doing on my phone either.

Yes I noticed the same. You can do it from a computer but not phone. Basically if the mobile view had the little balloon icon next to the posters name it would work fine. Not sure how hard that would be to add to the mobile view though.
