HârnMaster 3 Errata

#1 Post by Leitchy » Thu Jan 30, 2003 12:27 pm

In line with a suggestion from the general forums, this is a topic to collect all errors that people find in the newly release HârnMaster 3rd Edition rules.

Before posting an error, please check to see if someone else has already posted here.

Error posts should take the following format:

MAJOR SECTION TITLE (Character, Combat, Treasure, etc.)
PAGE NUMBER
Page Section (the heading under which the error appears)
APPROX. PAGE LOCATION (if necessary, indicate the location on the page of the error; use TOP, CENTRE, BOTTOM; and LEFT, RIGHT. Eg., centre left, bottom right.)
DESCRIPTION (Describe the error and any suggested changes)

A completely ficticious example:

CHARACTER 43
Table: VISUAL ACUITY (bottom right)
Fourteenth entry: 90-99 Can see into ultraviolet spectrum.
This has already been listed, but there is no entry for the other end of the spectrum.
Suggested change: 90-99 Can see into the infrared spectrum

Use only the areas of the suggested format that you need. For example, you probably don't need to indicate the page location of a table, as this should be obvious. You also may not have a suggested change, in which case, leave it out.

Please don't include areas where you don't agree with the rules, only those areas that are clearly a mistake. You may need to justify why you think it is an error.

It might be a good idea to put the MAJOR SECTION TITLE and PAGE NUMBER (eg, CHARACTER 43) in the Subject line.

Finally, discussion of the errors is discouraged here. Take it to an appropriate forum. I will endeavour to edit in a link to the discussion from the errata post.
Cheers

CHARACTER 14

#2 Post by Sir Eldaen » Thu Jan 30, 2003 3:39 pm

CHARACTER 14 (Table)

There's a typing error at the leftmost column in the box for the freeman class. It reads "Freeman Unuilded", when it should read "Freeman Unguilded"

(I know it's only a typo, but anyway...)
Steer me straight, O German one.

TREASURE 13

#3 Post by Sir Eldaen » Thu Jan 30, 2003 3:45 pm

TREASURE 13

On Treasure 13, on the Natural Personality table: 01-40 Natural ethereal trapped in the artifact by inimical magic. Result 41-85 reads the same thing.

According to HMC, it should read: 01-40 Natural ethereal willingly residing in the artifact.
Steer me straight, O German one.
O flamer of mail, O Carver in Stone...

CHARACTER 27

Military Careers

Left side

Several of the military occupations have no accompaning description - such as Huscarl, Sindarin Guardsman, etc.

There should be a few pages dedicated to brief descriptions of each occupation (as was in HMC).

SKILLS 3

Specialties

Right sidebar

"Characters may select ONE (1) specialty when a skill reaches ML 40. ....A character may declare any number of specialties,...."

Correct the wording to show when additional specialties may be obtained.

No specific link between mercenaries and vikings on the general occupations chart (CHARACTER 14) and the military occupation chart. Which military occupation do you apply?
A moment is the most you can ever expect from perfection.

TREASURE 8
Content section (6) refers to the Content table, but the table isn't included.
Table exists on Treasure 10 of HMC.

COMBAT 6
Movement section, the table for determining movement rates
Two of the entries (walk and run) are missing closing parentheses.
(I know, that's a bit picky...)

CHARACTER 8
Table: Agility modifiers
Fourth entry: -1 Large
"Large" is not a frame; should be "Heavy".
Suggested change: -1 Heavy

CHARACTER 15
Table: Occupational skills
Entry: Timberwright...Woodcraft/5
Appeared as above in HMC, but HM1 lists "Carpentry/2". Since a woodcrafter only opens woodcraft to SBx4, and since HM1 lists a woodcrafter as opening carpentry to SBx4, and furthermore since occupational skills are listed in descending order of opening multiplier, I suspect that this is a misprint and a timberwright should open woodcraft to SBx2.
Suggested change: Timberwright...Woodcraft/2

CHARACTER 15

Hunter/Trapper: The hideworking OML is 2. Keeping in mind that in the skill table the standard OML for hideworking is also 2, I think this is a mispriont and the hunter/trapper should get hiedworking OML 3.

Skills 4: Drawing OML

#11 Post by Fastred » Mon Feb 03, 2003 4:06 pm

SKILLS 4: Drawing OML
HM3 has increased Drawing OML from SBx2 to SBx3 - but this is not reflected in the Occupational Skills for the following: Scribe, Astrologer, Lexigrapher, Pilot, Thespian, Lady, Clerics.

Suggested correction:
Reduce Drawing OML to SBx2.

NB - many other OMLs have been increased, and this does not appear to have been reflected consistently in the Occupational Skills ...

CHARACTER 28
Military Wages (on the side bar)
Wages for the Light Foot Molarin given as 52d and 630d

This is greater than the wages for Armolarin. Suggested replacement values would be 42d and 504d (ie the 52 was a typo)

COMBAT 16
Missile Data Table - upper right side of page

Blowgun damage is listed as 0 across the board. However, in the Weapon Data Table on COMBAT 3, it is listed with a Blunt damage of 1.

I am at work and do not have the rulebook here with me. I know, blasphemy...
This error is on Character 19 (Veteran ML of 90) and Skills 18 (Veteran ML of 80).

I am at work and DO have my rulebook.

PHYSICIAN 4: Healing rate example

#16 Post by zgrose » Tue Feb 11, 2003 3:58 am

PHYSICIAN 4
Healing Rate (Example)

If the patient's Endurance is 11 and the wound is an S2 injury rated at H4, healing rolls for the wound test a Target Level of 44. With a roll of 32, the success level is MS, meaning the wound heals by one (1) Injury Level to M1.

Based on discussion here (http://www.harnforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1595), text should read

If the patient's Endurance is 11 and the wound is an S2 injury rated at H4, healing rolls for the wound test a Target Level of 44. With a roll of 32, the success level is MS, meaning the wound heals by one (1) Injury Level to S1.

All explanation about a character's starting age and the training time required by various occupations seems to have been omitted from HM3. This info originally appeared in HMC on Character 3: Birthdate and Character 13: PC Occupation. While veteran players will know how this is supposed to work, new players would not, hence my suggested inclusion in the errata. Especially since the number of contacts a character has is tied to their age.

Hi All,

Love HM3 Btw.

Looked at HarnPlayer and found that the Character Point Costs for the Occupations(Any of them) have been removed, but HM2 had a smaller "PC occupation chart" which had them listed.

Is this is HM3 and just not in HP3?

Regards,

Jason Brisbane

Hi,m

Also, Riding is listed on Skills 3 as a Physical Skill, but is listed on Skills 18 as a Combat Skill.

Dodge is also not listed on Skills 3, even though Skills 21 says Dodge can be improved by training.

I'll keep the errata coming...

HM3 : CHARACTER 3

#20 Post by Andreasn » Thu Feb 20, 2003 1:14 am

HI guys,

There is a table error in HM3 on CHARACTER 3.
In the Viking column of the Social Class Table it reads.

Slave ... 01-15
Serf ... 16-80
Unguilded ... 81-93 ERROR! Here
Guilded ... 86-98 ERROR! Here
Noble ... 99-00

The numbers clearly overlap.

Does anyone know the correct numbers?

Andreas

Probably not, as that would make Guilded a greater chance than Unguilded, which would not be the case, I'm thinking. I suggest Guilded should be 94-98; a 5% chance.

Edited by Leitchy so discussion occurred on one post

Harnmaster 3.01

#22 Post by Tharbad » Thu Mar 13, 2003 4:15 am

I get HarnMaster v3.01 (4001) two days ago.

Not all corrections from the Errata 3.01 are found in v3.01. The mistakes in CHARACTER 19 & 28; SKILLS 4 ; COMBAT 3; TREASURE 13 and BESTIARY 1 are not emended.

Combat 4
The weights for at least the quilt armours are still messed up; compare the leggings and the gambeson.

Blunt damage for blowgun is for hitting someone with the blowgun, in short, desperation use as a club

The dart does puncture damage and should be listed under missiles

This is correct! The tube of the blowgun used in melee is effectively a small stick so a blunt of 1 is fine. The dart that is fired is a zero (0) so it must hit exposed skin to cause impact, or to have the posion on the tip get into the targets system.
