Some Fyvrian Spells

#1 Post by Rothesay » Thu Aug 31, 2017 2:40 pm

IMC, Serli Ubael the Younger is a Fyvrian Shenava, and I have need of her having some spells which can be used to keep her safe. These are drafts and I would welcome comments.

Serli's Ennui (iii)
Serli Ubael the Younger

A spell to drain energy from a specific target. It's principal intent is to incapacitate but if taken to extremes it can kill.

The basic spell requires touch, and it drains SI/2 fatigue levels (rounded down) per round. If the victim is drained of FLs exceeding END then they fall unconscious. At twice END there is a permanent disability. If the victim reaches 3x END, then death occurs.

Bonus Effects

CML 70+ The enchantment no longer requires touch. Range is SI feet.

CML 90+ The enchantment range is now SI yards.

CML 100+ The enchantment may affect SI/2 individuals.

Time: 15−CSI seconds
Range: Touch
Duration: Indefinite

Serli's Acorn (iv)
Serli Ubael the Younger

A spell of power. It requires an acorn as a seed. The spell creates an ethereal acorn from Fyvrian principle, and magnifies its effect. As the spellcaster holds the acorn seed in hand, she points at the target. An acorn of immense hardness materializes from the principle and launches to the target. Impact on MS is 3D6 and is 5D6 on CS. The target may defend with a Block or Dodge resolved normally. If the spellcaster is of Elendsa blood, each impact is increased by 1D6, including MF which is 1D6. The acorn is consumed in the spell unless the caster is an Elendsa, in which case it survives and can be used again. The acorn is always consumed on CF.

Bonus Effects

CML 70+ Range becomes SI yards x 10.

CML 90+ The acorn is not consumed for any spellcaster except on CF.

Time: 10−CSI seconds
Range: SI yards
Duration: Indefinite

Serli's Path (iii)
Serli Ubael the Younger

This incantation increases the likelihood of tracking game and/or people. In its base form, it augments a person's Tracking skill.

Upon being touched by the caster (it can be used on the caster) the Tracking skill of the target is increased by ML15 on MS and ML 30 on CS. This augmentation lasts for one tracking attempt. The target must have Tracking skill at a minimum of SB1.

Bonus Effects

CML 60+ The enchantment no longer requires Tracking skill on the target.

CML 70+ The enchantment last for SI tracking attempts.

CML 90+ The enchantment may be laid on SI/3 targets.

Time: 15−CSI seconds
Range: Touch
Duration: Indefinite

Serli's Hand (v)
Serli Ubael the Younger

A spell to heal a specific injury. Upon CS, any one injury - of whatever degree - is instantly healed. Any underlying infection remains. On MS, the injury is reduced in severity by one level. The spell requires a special loam which can usually be found only near rivers or bodies of water. It is consumed in the spell.

Bonus Effects

CML 70+ The underlying infection is also healed on CS or reduced by H2 on MS (which may heal it).

CML 90+ The injury and/or infection are healed on MS.

CML 100+ All injuries and infections are healed on CS; on MS caster's choice which injuries or infections are healed. Each injury and its infection are taken separately with one or the other healed.

Time: 15−CSI minutes
Range: Touch
Duration: Indefinite

On the first spell, "Serli's Ennui".....

As its prime intent is as a non-lethal subduing spell, here are two possible bonus effects, one or both of which could be used:

ML:xx
Caster may declare a maximum fatigue that the casting will drain (to reduce chance of accidently causing harm by draining too much, an automatic shut off once the intended amount is drained).

ML:xx
An improvement on the above safety feature. Caster may declare a maximum 'effect'. Drain auto-stops once the intended 'effect' is reached. This allows VERY precise control.
For example: "Just enough to cause unconsciousness" would drain, at most, exact enough fatigue to cause unconsciousness, while "As much as possible without causing injury" would drain, at most, one fatigue point shy of 2xEND.
