http://www.snaiad.com/

Snaiad is a project that explores how life could evolve on a planet that is roughly similar to Earth. Evolution depends more on chance and accidents than most people assume, so one of this project's aims is to show a possible "what if" world where life found a different way under similar conditions.

Largely this is an exercise in speculative biology with some fantastic paintings of alien lifeforms. Definitely worth a look.

The Hunt for Gollum a Lord of the Rings Fan Movie: http://thehuntforgollum.com/updates.htm

Watch the two trailers. I think they have done a decent job with this. Only 10 days or so until it is released for free on the net.

he he I finally got that last joke....

In this picture it is easier to tell its actually a hood...
DSC_0431.JPG
(It was considered fashion to wear your hood like this.. It later evolved into the "Chaperon" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaperon_(headgear)
Like this from a Jan Van Eyck painting (1430)

(Beate wants to point out that this picture proves that I occasionally wears (some) women's clothing . But not for a bet... )

Why the use of Hârnic is (mostly) preferable to that of english when making up place names:

You just know that somewhere on one of those maps is a name like:

"Short-Red-Headed-Wench-With-Temper-Seeks-Gentleman-With-Riches-To-Tame-Her"

..or at least, in my mind there's a place like that..8)
"Honor is earned through the balance of peace and harmony, yet to the Master all eyes are open to possibilities".

Wow. I like this passage:

"Prison officials said they had banned the game at the recommendation of the prison’s specialist on gangs, who said it could lead to gang behavior and fantasies about escape."

Um. Looks like someone doesn't know the actual definition of the phrase "escapist fantasy."

A disappointing capture for the Pamesani Arena? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36202290/ns ... e-science/
If I were the impresario and the PCs brought me this "dragon", I might not pay them...

Two Youtube links:

The first is my reenactment/Jousting group firing our early 15th century canon, and a two Handgonnes :)

The second is from norwegian television, but with english subtitles. It is called Medieval Helpdesk...
