Play by Forum Interest Check

#1 Post by Kettenhund » Fri May 05, 2017 10:43 am

I'm interested in Game Mastering a Play by Forum game.

I would use Role Play Online, http://rpol.net/ , as I'm familiar with that medium and find it quite handy for running Play by Post.

I'm curious if there is any interest for such a game? Additionally, I'm thinking there have got to be those of you out there who have characters already made that you have wanted to play or play some more with, so I'm thinking that would be a good way to open up discussion about the premise for the campaign.

I have Kaldor and Chybisa, the Barbarians and a few odds ands ends so would need to place the game in or near one of those two kingdoms.

I have HM2 and would be using that as the main engine of the system.

If anyone is interested and would like to discuss...

My scorecard is a bit full right now, but.it could be interesting. My advice is to pick a premise that you find interesting and take it from there.

The Jara Rising section of my forum was a PBF a number of people here participated in some years back. Might be of interest to you. 8)

Rothesay,

Thanks for pointing me at you PBF game. It looks pretty in depth and well thought out. I'll be perusing it as I can.

Zrayaan,

Seems like you are the only one interested so far. Do you happen to have any characters lying about that you want to play? What type of campaign would appeal to you?

I probably should have mentioned I don't have the Shek pvar Magic or Harnmaster Religion, so any characters should probably veer away from those areas.

Having always been a gm I don't have any player characters, but there are plenty I can adapt or create. As for campaign type, I'm totally down for anything (not helpful, I know); be nice to experience Kaldor from the inside.

I'd be more comfortable as a Gm starting off small scale, rather than with grand plots and Kingdom shaking events, if that helps.

Characters along the lines of those in, A Shower of Silver.

But why not use this forum for the game?

Hello gmkeros,

I appreciate your interest. :D

I suppose using this forum for the game is a possibility, however, I did not want to impose on Leitchy's Bandwidth here.

I'm thinking about a game in a border manor with a lot of interaction with nearby Barbarians to start and both manorial as well as wilderness forays. Somethin like Chewintin, perhaps...

Go for it. Chewintin looks and ideal candidate for a starting location.

Chewintin is a good choice. Take a look at Charmic too though. The PCs are tasked with rebuilding it while fighting off gargun and Taelda. Maybe more ...

Alright, so the idea I am working with at the moment is for those interested in playing to choose one of the six pre-generated characters from Neil Thompson's outstanding Fanon, "A Shower of Silver".

Since no one has expressed interest in playing a particular character of their own and this allows for less wait time getting started and a common background available for all to read.

It will firmly place us in Asolade Hundred as our setting and give you all good roots there.

We will assume the events of the Murder Mystery took place and that you have found some favor with the Constable of Jedes by solving the mystery of Felyss's murder and are now in his employ for the time being. It will be the next Morning, 4th of Nuzyael, TR 720. Another task from The Constable will present itself...

Those that want to play, please download and read a Shower of Silver from Lythia and especially the characters and then let me know who among the six you'd like to play...

For anyone who might be following this, a question.

I see that there actually is a Play By Forum game, "Wolf and Wale" hosted here in the Alienage.

One of the potential players (gmkeros) above asked " why don't I run the game here".

For those who have been here, is this something that is done? and if so, is there a point of contact other than Leitchy to reach out to? A Moderator who runs the Alienage area perhaps?

Or should I go direct and ask Leitchy as the site owner? Just seeking input from the veterans about the best way to go about this...I don't want to jump the Chain of Command or cause any offense as the upstart new guy :D

Thanks

John

That's one then!

zrayaan will play Gorrys of Clan Lunn, a hunter, currently temporarily employed by the Constable of Jedes as additional security for the 4th Of Nuzyael Market day.

Any one else interested and want to select one of the 5 remaining characters?

So looks like we have two who are willing to play. Excellent.

I would have responded sooner but a thunderstorm messed up my router so it took me a while to get back online.

Ill send a private message to and see if I can get a Topic here to run the game. If not Ill shoot you a link the other site I mentioned. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.

Perhaps once we get going the momentum will drum up some more players.

Good News!

Leitchy has set us up with a Forum for me to run the game at. Its "tales of Asolade Hundred" in the Alienage area.

I'll be setting up a couple threads soon, one for In character play, where the game will be played and an Out of character thread for rules discussion or anything else that comes up.

I'd do this now as I'm excited, however my Track star son has an event I am attending so, very soon we will be gaming in the Asolade! see you there :D

Why not? I'll take Ryssi of Chert.

You have taken on a lot with three GMs as players!

BTW, there is a Balm of Joy article available.
