I'm working the White Rays (the Peonian Fighting Order found in Harn Pottage III) into my campaign and am trying to find a good location for them. They are obviously in Kaldor and I thought maybe I had found a suitable location west of Jedes and north of Chewintin (along the river just southeast of the Salt Route). BUT after re-reading the HP III article it states (Situated in rough hilly lands more than 2 leagues from any settlement the guildhall sits upon a 60’ cliff face over a wild river. Traveling along the trail down stream (north) will eventually lead to civilization and the up stream trail (south) leads to good hunting grounds.). That would make the "trail" backwards as the south would lead to civilization (Asolade hundred) and north (away from civilization and towards the woods/hunting areas).

Has anyone incorporated this article into their campaign and what location would you feel fits better?

I'm hoping for some quick feedback since the party has just exited a portal (from western Kanday) that the "militant" Peonians near Dunir use to stay in touch with the White Rays and vice versa. The next session is this coming Saturday morning and the party is at this moment standing at the cliff face overlooking the trail that leads to the White Ray's Guildhall.

Forean Manor North of Jedes in Thelshire on the Asolade Hundred Map. Rebuilt Keep loyal to the King in a somewhat strategic spot. Facilitate trades and travelers. [Refelen Manor could also work as a strategic point.]

[Allows them quite a bit more Royal Influence with the King who regularly visits Jedes but makes them more well known than the fanon].

Basically midway between Bromeleon and Erone Abbey.

Thought Chewintin and Keldkith would also work well being on the frontier of the kingdom and remote but then was basically to grand a keep (even rebuilt IMO) and really to expensive to build in the middle of nowhere without a full time bonded Master Mason on staff [Doable as an Order Construction and Siege Engineer] over the years .

Made it a Royal Manor owing fealty to Clan Elendsa and actually supporting their staff and granted Tarwyn Royal Commoner Privileges to each knight.

They also use chivalric weapons. Grand Master is a feudal herald acknowledged bastard (Clan Forwarty) born and raised in the Tharda Republic so more practical than most knights so the order is wealthier than the fanon. Very large pig herd and Bonded Ostler (and Fryrian Healer) managing their horse flesh.

Made it a Royal Manor (Slightly larger Double Fee) owing fealty to Clan Elendsa and actually supporting their staff.

The Hutop Sheriff isn't dead and they have good relations with the Jedes Constable and the Kath with a Bonded Chandler.

P.S. My view on their Relic is it was a gift which belongs to the Order. The Primate and Pontiff can ask but not demand it without coming to terms since they are not an official order.

Thanks for the info. I plan to go the opposite direction as far as how well known they are so I'll likely push them far into Kathela Hills to the west but still try to keep them close to the Salt Route.
