I am planning to run a campaign with a little twist, OK maybe a big twist to some. :scared:

Anyway, I'm hoping to get some feedback on this "idea" and what obstacles I may encounter melding it with the existing Canon/Fanon materials out there as well as what other hooks/paths might be interesting to connect to it.

Quote:
BACKGROUND

The Peoni Church manages almost all orphanages on Harn. At some point the players were all taken in by the local Peoni Church as orphans at a very young age (most between 3-5 years old) and cared for by the Irreproachable Order (Male Clerical Order of Peoni). During that time and at a very young age (most between 3-5 years old) several have been identified by representatives of a small militant sect of the Peoni Church based in western Kanday as being “special”. Having been singled out, members of this group arranged for the players to be transferred to and “adopted” to be raised/trained as priests at their temple located in Ryce with the local church headquartered in Dunir. However the priest at the local temple in Ryce had other intentions. This small Peoni sect were not adherent the peaceful teachings of Peoni. Instead they have taken a more militant position and interpret the teachings of Belsirasin “known as the Weeping Warrior” to be more aggressive. They are not so fond of the Peoni Church having to rely on the protection of the Church of Larani and feel they should have their own "defenders of the faith". However they also know that these actions and attitude would likely get them all reprimanded if not excommunicated even with the Peoni penchant of forgiveness. For that reason the players real training has been kept out of sight and well secreted. Although they have been well trained in the teachings of Peoni (as part of their cover) and are very knowledgeable acolytes they have also had other militaristic training. Only a few of the priests at Ryce and a few select trainers know the true story.

In the Peoni Church every month from the 14th through 17th is held the Greater Sepelah also known as the purification ritual. It is during this time when all the priests are attending this ritual the players have been sent away to spend this time cloistered at a small villa (with high walls) under the guise of gardening and reflecting on their religious teachings. It is during this time they encounter mysterious knights who come to train them for those four days in the art of combat and the way of the warrior. Each knight spends 2 years making these monthly pilgrimages and providing their training. After two years each is replaced by another and is never seen again. During their time with the players, each knight focuses on certain aspects of warfare such as scouting, riding, tracking, the spear, bow and sword. They teach much more but some things are forgotten over time due to lack of interest or you simply lack the innate talent to retain those particular skills.

As the winter of 719 comes to an end the players are awakened earlier than usual and their presence requested at the main chapel. Today is the day they will begin their new lives and put their training to use in the real world.
Questions, comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

To add a little more, since there is no Fantasy Grounds Ruleset for HarnMaster I will be using either GURPS or RoleMaster for the game system. In either case they would be tweaked to take in as much of the Harn/HarnMaster system as I can manage to carry over.

Sounds like an interesting campaign! Look forward to reading more on it. :D

Ok, let me get this straight. These guys come in, trash the place, slap Agrik & Larani around, and the most intelligible thing they said was "Zog!"?

I've been trying to work up some political intrigue/background where a small few in the Larani camp (mainly lower level Knights and Men at Arms) begin to get suspicious about what is going on over in Ryce. Since they are not keen on the idea of "competition" in their role as Peoni pilgrim protectors they start nosing around which just further aggravates the "militants" and their charges.

Harn Pottage 3 Has The White Rays Minor Fighting Order (of Peoni) which is really well done.

I only have two minor issues with it. The knights do not use chivalric weapons which is a easy fix having them use Lances, Maces and Broad Swords (Few Knights and gentleborn men do not wear a broad sword as a symbol of their status IMO but every P-Harn is different) .

Instead of having their keep built by the Khuzhan I have it abandoned in Kaldor as a Royal Bailiff Manor granted to the order to keep it out of the hands of ambitious nobles, the Laranian church, bandits and the Lady Order of Paladins which they have been restoring over the years which has not made them popular with those organizations. Nearest Lady Order Chapter house has been tasked with keeping an eye on the order. [The Order supports bachelor knights with LH support which is why they work escorting caravans and taking other paying positions and are usually at large somewhere].

Using HMG Player squire at 14 family skills, followed by three to five years as an acolyte depending on the edition with militia traing in sword and shield using and three years as a hunter (squire) focusing on mastering the bow and two other weapons or four years as a mercenary LH could be interesting for a minor order bachelor hedge knight.

Thanks for that information. I'll have to read up on it.
