Please re-post your plan for the war in the west. I'm getting numerous requests for my copy of it, which has been altered for my campaign and is therefore not the true article.

The origional thread was lost in the Great Hacking of '04.

Voilà,

Roland de Ronceveaux wrote:
In my p-Hârn, here's how things are going to go down in Western Hârn (in very, very short). The starting date is not fixed yet, but the action will probably be concurrent with the Civil War in Kaldor, and other happenings in Eastern Hârn.

- Marshall Kronas gathers up enough support from a coalition of the expansionist and Imperial faction, and sends the Ramala Legion against the Gozyda. The hidden purpose is to provoke Kanday into war.

- Being hard-pressed, the Gozyda tribes beseech Kanday for support. Andasin does not want to commit officially, and sends "volunteers" to help the barbarians. The hawkish faction in Kanday howls for war on Tharda.

- Kronas arranges an "ambush", into which the son of a prominent Senator (commanding a company) is killed by supposedly Kandayan troops. In the Senate, Kronas denounces the "treachery" of the southern weaklings and whips the Coranan populace into a patriotic frenzy. The Senate declares war on Kanday, with Marshall Kronas as Commander-in-Chief.

- Kronas invades Kanday, besieging Heroth and Ibonost.

- Andasin leads a Kandayan army to the rescue of Heroth. He is crushed in the field by Kronas's legions and barely manages to escape with his life.

- Heroth falls. Quivum is besieged in turn.

- With his two dangerous neighbours otherwise engaged, King Chafin of Rethem moves against Earl Lynnaeus.

- Quivum and Ibonost are taken by the Thardans. The armies converges towards Dyrisa.

- A Melderyni delegation is covertly send to Tharda, laden with gold. For greater discretion, the delegation is split into three parties. Two will never reach Coranan. The last party does not have enough gold to bribe the Senate into an open majority against Kronas.

- Ohetis surrenders. Kronas starts investing Dyrisa.

- King Andasin is evacuated from the Capital. Crown Prince Anaflas remains to lead the defence of the city.

- From Aleath, King Andasin asks aid from Melderyn. Melderyn refuses, but allows volunteers to go. Many Melderyni knights embark for Kanday.

- In Rethem, the Earl of Tormau has victory on the field of battle snatched from him at the last moment, when his Ivinian mercenaries turn against him. The Earl retreats to his lands in west Rethem.

- Kronas besieges Dyrisa throughout winter. Anaflas repulses every assault on the city.

- In spring, King Andasin leads Kanday's remaining forces, augmented by the Melderyni volunteers, to the relief of Dyrisa. However, Kronas has built a concentric double ring of fortifications around the capital to resist any coordinated attempts at breaking the siege. The Kandayan army fails to relieve Dyrisa, and is forced to backtrack south when news arrive that a Thardan legion, emerging from the Gozyda heartland, has taken Sumon in a surprise assault.

- Chafin slowly progresses towards Tormau, against fierce resistance.

- With many casualties, Andasin recaptures Sumon. The Ramala legion, with drawn-out lines of supply stretching through Gozyda territory, is forced to abandon its foothold on the west bank of the Eryn and starts on its long trek back towards Tharda.

- In a series of daring ambushes, Tormau's forces halt the progress of the royal army. In a rage, Chafin calls on all Agrikan orders within Rethem to join his crusade against the "heathen" Earl.

- Dyrisa faces a second winter of siege. Defenders resort to eating rats and chewing the straps of leather harnesses. Acts of cannibalism are reported.

- After showing preparations to settle down for the winter, the Thardan army springs a surprise assault of the city. Despite a ferocious defence by the Prince, the exhausted and dispirited capital yields. Anaflas is killed in the action.

- In response to charges of heresy, the earl of Tormau uses his Kuboran contacts to hire barbarian mercenaries.

- In Aleath, King Andasin faces the discontent of his barons. The Earl of Selvos and the Checkered shield refuse to send any more men and further weaken the Rethemi border. Many Lords protest how House Milaka has led Kanday to its ruin. Rumours of a plot to overthrow Andasin surface.

- During the winter, the Earl of Sarkum secretly visits Cherafir on behalf of the King. A deal is struck with the Council of Eleven: if Melderyn intervenes, Andasin pledges to appoint his brother-in-law Prince Jevas Toron as the Crown Prince of Kanday, and himself never to marry. Upon the death of Andasin, the Kandayan Crown would pass on to Melderyn.

- King Chunel calls-up the fleet, and the Royal levy. The Melderyni army is comprised mainly of men from the islands, so as not to deplete the mainland too much against events happening in Eastern Hârn. The forces will be led by Prince Jevas.

- As spring arrives, the Melderyni fleet sets sail for Aleath. Kronas has to go to Coranan to defeat a motion by the Senate demoting him, due to the war taking too long. In his absence, the Thardan legions march south and are defeated by the combined armies of Melderyn and Kanday.

- Kronas hurries back to Dyrisa to organise the defences.

- King Chafin finally wins the backing of the Earl of Techen and all the Agrikan fighting orders. He renews his push against Earl Lynnaeus, and defeats his forces. Chafin lays siege to Tormau.

- The allied army lays siege to Dyrisa. Benefitting from inside complicity, the gates are thrown open one night, and the attackers rush in. Kronas is forced to evacuate the city, but retreats in good order.

- Andasin parades in the street of the capital to the cheers of the liberated populace.

- Kronas is removed from command of the Legions by the Senate.

- The allied army marches north. Ohetis is besieged. The disorganised Thardan armies are defeated in battle north of the town. Ohetis surrenders.

- Chafin launches his final assault on Tormau. The castle is taken, but not before Lynnaeus and his retinue escape by ship. A naval battle develops, with Chafin's fleet pitted against the few remaining Ivinian ships in Tormau's service, as well as a mystery fleet of Daks and Niviks, led by a Karune. The Rethemi navy is defeated, and Lynnaeus is evacuated.

- The allied army besieges Quivum. After a long resistance, the town surrenders. Jevas and Andasin march on Heroth.

- Winter sets in. Chafin extends his iron grip on Rethem. For the price of their help, the Copper Hook demands that the King declare war on Kanday and attack Menekod. It is rumored that the King is considering acceding to their request.

- News reach Shostim that Lynnaeus has found refuge somewhere in Peran.

- Riot erupts in Coranan against the mismanagement of the war. On a wave of popular discontent, Kronas seizes the capital and declares himself Autarch. A severely depopulated Senate confirms him in his post.

- With the spring thaw, Kronas leads the legions to Heroth. In a mighty battle, the allied army is forced back from the walls of the town, suffering heavy losses.

- The Copper Hook increases its activities in Northwest Kanday.

- Several Thardan provinces dispute the appointment of the Autarch.

- Tharda and Kanday sign a peace treaty. Heroth reverts to the Kandian Crown, but Tharda retains northern Norea, Ibonost and a large chunk of eastern Daen. The Kandian lords are reportedly dissatisfied with this settlement but are too weakened by the war to protest.

- King Andasin confirms Jevas Toron as Crown Prince of Kanday, in a public ceremony in Dyrisa.

- After consideration, King Chafin decides not to declare war on Kanday, but appeases the Copper Hook by funneling arms, supplies and men to them.

**********
Post-war possibilities:

- Earl Lynnaeus rebuilds his power in Peran with his Kuboran friends and Melderyni support. His clan intermarries with Kuboran lines. This could give rise to a new Arlun, or an attack by Chafin on Peran to prevent this.

- Kronas needs to assert control of Tharda. Will he succeed or not? Also the Gozyda conquest is not complete.

- A boosted Copper Hook increases tension along the Kanday-Rethem border. Will there be another Ezar's war?

- Jevas is the new Crown Prince of Kanday, but will Andasin keep his bargain never to produce an heir? Also, are the Kandayan Barons going to let the Kingdom be absorbed by Melderyn?

As a side note, I am struggling through the final phase of my KSC article. This is not a depiction of the KSC, but a guide supplying analysis and ideas for making your own Succession Crisis.

I was initially going to include a Civil War summary in it (in the same style as above), but decided against it to make a separate article. Now I'm toying with the idea of writing a "Future History of p-Hârn" article, since I basically developed similar timelines for all of Hârn up to 730TR+.

By 730+, the following have occured:

- Kaldoric Succession Crisis
- Rethemi Civil War
- Tharda/Kanday War
- The Solora Crusade
- 2nd Jarin Rebellion
- Ride of the K'ron

By 760+, I am planning:

- Wolves of Harbaal
- The Union of the Crowns
- War of the Duels Arcane
- Rise of the Foulspawn
- Rebirth of the Empire
- Khuzan Great March
...

Cheers,

Roland

Don't get excited there maypole. Roland is still only a reeve and that means he's a serf still.

Bah! Don't listen to that party-pooper. He's just jealous.

Gifts of coin always help...

As to when, this is always the big question since I have all this in the form of notes, but not much in legible electronic format.

That said, I really enjoyed writing the Tharda/Kanday (+Rethem) sequence of events, so I'll let you pick one in the following list and I'll give it the same treatment in this thread.

730+
- Kaldoric Succession Crisis
- Rethemi Civil War*
- Tharda/Kanday War*
- The Solora Crusade
- 2nd Jarin Rebellion
- Ride of the K'ron

How does that sound?

Cheers,

Roland

Roland for Pendragon! (or at least a juicy little barony....like Chybisa)

what a generous offer...
I'll have to pick the ride of the K'ron, simply because ive no idea who, or what they are':D'

You are sir, a gentleman and a scholar, and i shall happily donate my meagre post count to assist your elevation to a station that more properly reflects your stature.

If you'll take the vote of a lowly peasant, I'd go with the Kaldoric Succession Crisis ... my players are venturing towards Kaldor, and there's nothing they enjoy better than walking into a fray unawares.

Roland,
I vote for the Ride of the K'ron as well, if only because it sounds new, unique, and previously undiscussed. Somehow the title alone evokes images of barbarian hordes riding out of the wilderness to sac the civilized areas of Harn...

Thomryng
If you do a search of the forum on the Kaldoric Succession, you can find ample material to work with - probably the most talked about topic on the forum (next to Potatoes :D )

And welcome to the ranks of lowly peasents

K'ron is IIRC a name for a Hodiri overchief (Khan?), for purposes of war mainly.

Thanks for that. I did so and found a large number of requests with essentially the same answer, a fair number of discussions pointing to dead links, and a tiny number of posts about the actual succession crisis.

Apparently my search-fu is not so great.

If anybody knows of a good thread that I might have missed, I'd be obliged for a pointer.

In a dimly related thread, at Harncon last year (thanks again John! :) ) a Kaldor Succession Crisis LARP was run. Can the authors be persuaded to make that material available? [-o<

Done! Very nice, actually. This will take us out of the usual biggies. Give me a day or two to write it down and I'll post it here.

To Thomryng:

Try a search for - Possible/Probable factions in Kaldoric succession crisis? - That thread is chock-full of useful ideas, courtesy of Dan Bell.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed.

Considering the number of requests for this information, perhaps this thread ought to be sticky.

OK, you get two for one - namely the Solora Crusade and the Ride of the K'ron - because they flow one into the other.

-----

713TR - Laranian Missionaries are killed in Solora. LOP knights allege that the priests were tortured to death "in grisly and barbaric fashion" while tribesmen insist they were killed after grieviously insulting a tribal headsman.

714TR - The Melderyni branch of the Order of the Lady of Paladins launches the Solora Crusade from their strongholds along the Nuem River.

717TR - The Crusade turns increasingly genocidal, especially at the instigation of Sir Selic Osgorne, Knight Commander of Fosumo. Under his watchword of "filth breeds lice" entire populations (with women and children) are put to the sword, including the village of Surint-Alwa in 718TR.

717TR - A man is found by local tribesmen near the estuary of the Bireh River. His tattered clothing mark him as a shipwreck survivor, but the man doesn't remember anything about his past. His only possession is a bejewelled sword of great beauty. He is taken as slave by the nearby clan.

719TR - Sir Brynet Mery, the Sheriff of Biren (and staunch opponent of the crusade) sentences two LOP knights for manslaughter after their killing of a Solori tribesman. The row raised by the LOP overshadows the legal precedent that has been set: by sentencing an action commited in Solora, the land is considered to fall under the jurisdiction of Birenshire, and therefore under the Melderyni Crown.

720TR - A LOP raid pushes to the shore of the Indatha Straits and attacks a village there. Though initially a success, the villagers are rallied by a man who does not appear to be a Solori. The tribesmen hit back and the knights are forced to retreat.

721/722TR - Despite (or because of) several wholesale massacres in Solora, resistance against the Crusade stiffens. Tribal ambushes become more organised and lethal. Rumours of a Solori overchief emerge.

722TR - Opposition to the Solora Crusade and other internal tensions splinter the Kaldoran Branch of the LOP. Answering the main branch repeated calls for assistance, the Reblena of Yaltako travels to Melderyn with his whole chapter. He is followed by many Kaldoran LOP knights.

King Miginath of Kaldor dies in the winter of 722TR. Civil War erupts a few months later

723TR - Reinforced by the Kaldoran contingent, the LOP renews its offensive in Solora. The attack pushes deep into the tribal heartland and is punctuated by a series of sharp clashes with the barbarians. Under torture, captured tribesmen reveal they are led by Matasum, a mythical leader that will lead the Solori people to salvation. Throughout 723, eliminating Matasum becomes a priority target for the LOP.

724TR - With Melderyn's nobility slowly turning against the prosecution of the conflict in Solora and war raging in several areas of Hârn, the LOP is under pressure to mop up its ethnic cleansing quickly. A new offensive is launched to finish the Solori off once and for all. The goal of the LOP is to force the barbarians into open battle. To their astonishment this is actually achieved, although not on the terms looked for. Matasum surprises the LOP column by driving a herd of wild cattle on their rearguard. Solori warriors hidden behind the flanks of the beasts spring onto the confused horsemen while a large barbarian force breaks from cover. The entire rearguard is massacred before the LOP main body can drive the Solori from the field. Casualties are heavy on both sides. The offensive stalls for the rest of the year.

End 724TR/ beginning 725TR - A large Melderyni army sets sail for war in Kanday. Many LOP knights are called up, depleting the Order's ranks in Solora.

...

(...continued)

720/725TR - Jherdela, a ruthless and charismatic Hodiri chieftain, has slowly been rallying tribes under his banner. His continued success has brought him to the attention of Melderyn, who keeps agents in Horadir and at the Patrel moot, generally under the guise of traders. Melderyn has been pursuing a policy of subtle disruption since the days of Arrak (d. 410TR) to prevent the Hodiri nation from uniting under a single leader.

As of 725TR, Jherdela numbers a score of tribes amongst his allies. His declared ambition is to conquer Chybisa. Since 723TR, Matasum and Jherdela have been in contact.

725TR - At the spring moot in Patrel, a surprise Solori delegation visits the assembled clans of the Hodiri. It is led by Matasum himself, who seeks to relieve the pressure of Hodiri raids along the Soleno River and other forms of aid. At a speech before the tribal chieftains, Matasum denounces the war the LOP is waging on his people. Jherdela supports him, claiming the LOP is backed by Melderyn and when Solora falls Horadir will be surrounded by Melderyni-held lands.

- Over the next few days, the chiefs deliberate on this but no agreements seem forthcoming. The stunned Council agents have recognised in Matasum Sir Huthor Thabel, the presumed lost son of the Earl of Nurisel. They are busy preparing their dispatches when Matasum recalls one of them from his dim past. This jogs his dead memory and in an outcry, the Solori leader identifies the man as a Melderyni agent.

- The moot is in uproar. Jherdela seizes the opportunity and has the trader arrested. Unable to torture him on the peace grounds of Patrel, the chieftain has the agent brought outside and dragged behind a horse. Other traders plead safe conduct from sympathetic chieftains who are upset at Jherdela's bending of the rules. The merchants pack up and precipitously leave the gathering.

- With the spy's confessions, Jherdela harangues the Hodiri. Melderyn's treachery has been exposed. The island kingdom fears the horsetribes' armed might. The timing is perfect. Kaldor is engulfed in Civil War. Melderyn has most of its troops on the other side of Hârn. Chybisa, ruled by a weak king and degenerate son, stand alone and defenceless. The Hodiri chief succeeds in rallying more than half the tribes to his banner. He is proclaimed K'ron and the host assembles for its ride on Chybisa.

- A confused Matasum (his memories are starting to come back) returns to Solora. He has obtained assurances from the K'ron that the raids will cease. The LOP, hurt in last year's battles and their ranks depleted by the Kanday summons, remain quiet in their fortresses beyond the Nuem River. It is the first year in many that Solora is at peace, but the land is ravaged and many clans have perished.

- At the head of more than 2000 warriors, the K'ron charges into Chybisa. The unprepared tiny kingdom is overwhelmed. The ferocity, speed and proficiency of the Hodiri warriors make every attempt at resistance futile. Sir Marak Semadin, the Marshall of Chybisa, dies bravely in battle trying to stem the tide. Soon, only the castles still stand, with the exception of the royal seat of Onden. With it's constable the Crown Prince entering the last stage of syphilis, he is becoming mad and the fortress is not barricaded in time. The keep is captured and the prince taken into captivity.

- Chybisa is ravaged by the horsemen. Settlements are sacked and stripped of all the loot that can be taken away. The population that has not fled is taken into slavery by the Hodiri. Others have found refuge in Lerenil, Burzyn or Geda, which are the only places still to offer any resistance.

- Flush with victory, new clans join Jherdela's banner. Inexperienced in siege warfare, the K'ron leaves some forces to blockade the three strongholds and starve them out, while the horde descends the Genin trail and rides towards Laket.

...

- Alarmed at the situation in Chybisa, Marric Alaga - the Earl of Elorin - calls up his levy and enjoins the other mainland lords to do the same. King Chunel is informed and approves this course of action, but can send no reinforcements as the bulk of Melderyni forces is engaged in Kanday.

- Deep in the secret chambers of the Council of Eleven, debate rages between the interventionists and the isolationists.

- Having recovered most of his memory, Huthor Thabel contacts his father, the Earl of Nurisel. Covertly crossing the Indatha Straits, he meets with his overjoyed father and appraises him of the real situation in Solora.

- Cresting the Anadel passes, the Hodiri horde surges into northern Melderyn and assaults Laket. Despite having been previously reinforced by the Earl, the headquarters of Dyriamarch falls to the onslaught of the horsetribes after a valiant defense. Jherdala has the town razed "to teach the Melderynis who are the real masters of Dyriamarch". Barin Alaga, the Warden of Laket and the Earl of Elorin's eldest son, is tortured to death in the Hodiri traditional manner: dragged behind a running horse while other horsemen spear his flesh.

- Pouring forward, the horde pushes deeper inside Melderyn. Cautiously, the Earl of Elorin refuses to give battle in the open and retrenches himself in Harden. The clans ravage Elorinshire and soon after enter Lenedshire.

2nd half of 725 TR - Civil War ends in Kaldor. Conwan Elendsa ascends the throne.

- Winter sets in, slowing down the progress of the K'ron. Jherdela headquarters in Laket keep while Hodiri flying columns lay waste to northern Melderyn. Mainlander lords appeal again to King Chunel for help but only token forces are sent to Thay. Frustration grows towards insular Melderyn. However, an unusual amount of Hodiri chiefs become mentally unstable, lose their way, or grow increasingly anxious.

- In Burzyn, King Verlid VII is taken severely ill with stomach cramps. Princess Nerelin, faced with a belegeared kingdom, resorts to seek outside help. Taking advantage of the desultory siege around the city, she leaves with a strong escort towards the north.

- Laden with booty, many horseclans want to return to Horadir but the string of victories have sharpened the K'ron's appetite. Come spring, the Horde will ride on Thay.

- Princess Nerelin reaches Tashal, where she obtains an audience with King Conwan. She is ready to offer Chybisa to the Kaldoran Crown in exchange for urgent help. For Conwan, the offer is a godsend. There comes the opportunity to increase his lands and prestige, and get rid of the troublesome excess of mercenaries and sundry fighting-men accrued during the war. Arlin Alsar is placed at the head of the Kaldoran expeditionary force, with an understanding he will marry the princess and become Earl of Chybisa if he is successful. A Royal Charter is granted for knights and men of the host to take possession of Chybisan lands liberated from the barbarians and abandoned by their former owners - a vague wording.

726TR - With spring, the horde stirs anew and heads for Thay. Harden has resisted the siege and is now bypassed by the Hodiri main force. Over winter, the Melderyni lords have organised and raids in Lenedshire now encounter strong resistance. Even though, there is still no standing army to confront the Horde as it advances on the freetown.

- The Kaldoric host completes it's muster in Kobing and marches south. The Pagaelin - scattered two years previously - oppose no resistance. Burzyn is reached and easily relieved as the undisciplined Hodiri forces simply ride away. The town erupts with joy, tempered by concern - during Nerelin's absence King Verlid has died and the Chybisans now know they will have to depend on Kaldor. Lord Alsar wastes no time: he garrisons the town to anchor his flank and marches towards Geda.

- Jherdela is in sight of Thay when news of the Kaldoran army reach him. In a rage, he convenes a war-council to decide on a course of action. His chiefs plead with him to turn back: the walls of Thay are too strong and there is a danger for the horde to be cut off inside Melderyn should the Kaldorans block the Anadel passes. Furthermore the men and beasts are plagued by countless little ills and rumour is growing that the endeavour is pointless. Vowing to come back, the K'ron orders the clans back towards Chybisa. The withdrawal bears in its wake many sharp skirmishes as the Melderyni forces shadow the Hodiris on their way out.

- Pushing towards Geda, the Kaldoran host is supplemented by Chybisans as men come out of hiding following the dispersal of Hodiri troops left in Chybisa. Geda proves no exception to this, as the lukewarm chieftain departs with his loot rather than face the strong force bearing down on him. The town is relieved, and Jarl Forsetha joins Alsar's force.

- The more mobile horseclans make it out of Melderyn before the trap is sprung, and cross the Anadel passes. Veering north, the K'ron leads the horde to seek battle against the Kaldoran army. Arlin Alsar has arrayed his force near the village of Genjlden, south of Geda. They are waiting for the Hodiris...

Excellent work.

I'm running the War in the West as we speak-the first year's campaigning is nearly over, and the Pcs have a great deal riding on the outcome.

I'm going to incorporate some of the above into my Harn's upcoming War in the East.

The Battle of Genjlden (in reality about 5 leagues to the south, along the Ulmerien River)

- Arlin Alsar has placed his footmen in an arc, with his left flank anchored by the Ulmerien River. His troops bar the Genin Trail and the way north to the advancing Horde. His command post is on a small knoll behind the lines. The Kaldoran Heavy Horse is on the right flank and slightly back from the line, with a contingent in reserve.

- Jherdela has organised his troops by clans, extending his more numerous forces from the Ulmerien to a point where they will be able to envelop Alsar's right flank. The K'ron is surrounded by his guard of handpicked warriors from each clan.

- The horns blare and the battle opens with the Hodiri charging the Kaldoran foot. Standard Hodiri tactics are employed: the horsemen charge in a straight line, loose arrows from horseback and retreat out of range, taunting the Kaldorans to pursue them.

- While taking a toll on the opponent's line, the strategy is not effective as usual. The Kaldoran foot has been arrayed in a double line, front row kneeling and spearbutts set against the ground. They take cover behind their shields. The second rank stands just behind and protect their upper bodies with their shields. Immediately behind are the Chybisan and Kaldoran longbowmen, who are protected by the shieldwall and loose their rain of death at each barbarian surge.

- After a few charges, the Kaldoran line looks like a porcupine. The powerful Hodiri bows find some marks and the line thins here and there but the casualties are replaced by men standing further back. Each charge also takes its toll on the horseclans as the longbows reach far for them. Furthermore, the civil war veteran's discipline holds and none have broken ranks to pursue the retreating Hodiris.

- The K'ron orders a wholesale charge along the opposing line. Yelling fiersome war-cries, the Hodiri wave crashes on the Kaldoran foot. The western end of the barbarian charge drapes around the right flank of the enemy.

- Alsar orders the knights to countercharge on the right before the whole position is flanked. The two mounted forces meet in a thunderous clash.

- All along the line the fighting degenerates into a furious melee. Some horses baulk in front of the spear wall and throw their warriors on the ground. Some display amazing feats of horsemanship, vaulting over the lances and crashing into the footmen behind, opening small breaches. These are hastily filled by men held slightly behind for such purposes.

- Hodiri horsemen run parallel to the line, loosing arrows in the now-disorganised mass of Kaldoran foot. Despite their speed, many die under the arrows of the Chybisan longbowmen, who have retreated to the slope of the knoll.

- On the right flank, the fighting is still indecisive. The knight's charge has blunted the Hodiri advance, but the barbarians outnumber them. However, the metal-covered men have the advantage in close combat and the melee swirls to and fro.

- A wide breach is opened in centre as the Kaldoran line collapses, exultant Hodiris pour through. Arlin charges with his last reserves to seal the breach. The contingent of knights succeeds in pushing the barbarians back but the whole line starts to wobble.

- Sensing victory is near, the K'ron throws himself in the battle, with his Elite Guard. He hits the line at a point held by Jarl Forsetha and his men. With all hope to hold lost, the Baron of Geda goes berserk and takes down a whole squadron of Hodiris before behing overwhelmed. Jherdela hoists the head of the fallen Jarl on a spear, for all to see.

- Reports start reaching the clan that their Gurs (Hodiri wagons) are under attack. Fearful for their loot, some clans leave the battle and ride towards their camp.

- During the night, the Kaldoran light horse had ridden the supply rafts and hidden to the south, on the far bank of the Ulmerien. Crossing the river again as the two hosts join on the battlefield, they reorganise and fall on the Barbarian field camp. Hodiri survivors flee and alert the main force.

- A steady stream of Horseclans starts leaving the battle to protect their goods. Some mistake this for a retreat and confusion breaks out in the barbarian's ranks. The K'ron rides back towards the fleeing clans and attempts to stabilise the line.

- On the right flank, the departure of some of their opponents give the Kaldoran knights the upper hand. Soon, what was a retreat becomes a rout. Rather than pursuing the foe, the heavy horse wheels and charges the knot of troops where the K'ron is trying to rally his forces.

- The knights slice through their unprepared opponents like butter. Despite a valiant defence, the K'ron is struck down and killed. A great shout rises from the Kaldoran ranks as the Overchief's personal banner disappears from sight.

- Shaken by the loss of their leader, the Hodiris flee. The Kaldoran foot pursues, but not very far as the uninjured barbarians are much more mobile.

- Fighting rages at the Kraal as the dismounted squires and Sergeant-at-arms defend against the returning clans. Despite their good defensive position the contest is stiff as the trickle of returning horsemen grows into a flow.

- The circle of Gurs is completely surrounded by milling Hodiris and the fighting becomes desperate when the Kaldoran Knights finally arrive. A last charge scatters the demoralised clans and the Hodiri run away, leaving an incredible amount of loot in Kaldoran hands. Pursuit is desultory, as the Kaldoran army is exhausted.

- Kneeling on the field of battle Arlin Alsar and the leaders of the Kaldoran host give thanks to Larani.

I like the part about Forsetha's fall - IMG he's an Avalir, that should see him straight to Talagaad with honors. :D
