Let's give it a try, then. I suggest starting with some lokal map features. I also own a licence of C4D and have been working as a 3D pro for several years now, most of it in games.
Problem is that I'm pretty preoccupied work-wise, so things might move slowly. We also need some experts that can give us concepts of typical medieval housings and other reference material. Anyone interested?
P.S.: As you say you are a lousy artist _and_ own a small fortunes worth of graphical equipment, what kind of business are you in?

First of all:
Before we are going to hijack this thread I have opend a thread in the Crafters section.
Now to answer your questions:
I am a software developer by heart (but coding is something I can only do as ahobby) and currently work as a project lead for a team that implements a pascal like programming language with its editor. Something like VisualStudio.
But I am also interested in 3D since quite some time. And with the time you simply start to collect all these tools.
I have also started to build up quite some refernces material. And an other advantage is that I live near a museum/theme park that has also a small medieval frankonian village with original, restaurated farm buildings ! So I do have quite some photos already.
But I also own some books regading the items of daily live, clothing and so on.
Regarding 3D I want to create my personal 3D Harn RPG (some hybris here!).
At first I planned to do Trobridge Inn as a scenario because there is so much going on there.
I have modeled the manor there (exterior only). But I skipped it because the AI would be to complicated to start with.
Second I started with Jedes and modelled Caer Jedes (exterior and interior, but without furniture).
But the second part of the adventure is still due and so I finally decided to go for something even simpler.
So currently I plan to do Falkath in 2D. I have the 'manor' (exterior), a height map of the lokal area and some of the main characters already done in 3D.
Currently I am working on the WorldEditor.
Good thing is that you work with C4D also, so if you are interested in some of my models i can provide them.
Any more discussion better though the thread in the crafters section.
