Anyone own this? I have three questions:

1. How would does the map look? Is it, for lack of a better term, 'computery', or does it retain, at least in part, the classic feel of the original?

2. Did NRC remove the "erroneous" Point of Interest from the Felsha Mountains?

3. Was there anything special about it, that you feel like mentioning here?

Thanks.

Cool. That answers question 1. Anybody want to answer number 2? They're both deal breakers for me. I like what I saw of the map, but I'd be very disappointed if he 'fixed' cough, redacted, cough number 2.

Are you referring to the unnamed Point of Interest between peaks Ebon and Niphel in the Rayesha Mtns? If so, this is now a new Gargun cave complex named Zêrhux.
Interestingly, Zêrhux is not mentioned in the list of major Gargun colonies in the Gargun article in NB&S...

I have found the interactive map to be an excellent resource.

I particularly find the layers provide an excellent depth of information. Interesting things that have been added in layers are names for geographical features, areas of political influence (core and peripheral), religious institutions, trade routes, trade goods etc; other points of interest that I like are anchorages and shipwrecks. One feature that I like is that you can customise the map to show whatever you layers you like easily and then print whatever section of the map you wish in whatever scale.

Whilst there may be minor differences to the map released by CG many years ago, I don't see it as a major issue.
This map was created by Robin, so fits with his view of things. I don't see a problem with improving/enhancing the map over time.

Naturally if you don't like some of the extra details in your harn, then simply ignore them. I think it is still a very useful tool.

All of the old upside down triangle ‘point of interest’ symbols have been replaced by more specific symbols for (for example) Monumen/Standing Stobes, Ruin, Cave Complex etc.

From the index Zêrhux [G4] is an abandoned Kúzhan mine, Rayésha Mts.
(not a gargun complex)

As I’ve said elsewhere, the local asolade hundred map was kindly provided to me by Robin & Jeremy and is based on this map. The Hârn map is capable of being used to create kingdom maps, all it needs is someone to put all of the settlements onto it.

Neil: You are correct.
According to the Index, Zêrhux [G4] is indeed an abandoned mine.
However, if you toggle the layer named Gargun Cave Complexes on the interactive map, it does include Zêrhux as a Gargun Cave Complex. That's what I did, rather than use the index.
So, perhaps we are both right: Zêrhux is an abandoned mine now occupied by a Gargun colony... :D

There is also a piece of Fannon out there (can't remember where), that describes the Zerhux Mine as a Base for the Morsindar Elves.

Found it, Thonahexus 3, Morsina article page 2, describes an ice cave on the treeline, between peaks Ebon & Niphei, that became home to the Morsindar after their departure from Shava.

It could be played; the Morsina occupied an abondoned mine and took some Gargun as slaves/servants.

Does anybody have any more information on this Zerhux. This is the first I've heard of it. The old Harn FAQ said the triangle was a printer error. It is not mentioned in Nasty, Brutish, and Short, HarnPlayer, nor Harndex Second Edition. What Index are you talking about?

The index available with the Harn Interactive PDF map, available from www.kelestia.com.

Well... I finally picked this up. I'm fairly pleased, with two minor quibbles.

1. I would have liked two see tribal ranges split between gargun and humans. The layer is so light (or the land is so dark), that I find it difficult to discern the borders between tribes.
2. I would have liked a low-res, or lighter vegetation and relief layer in addition to the one provided. Maybe something like the simple outline of landmass and mountains found in Harndex. This would make reading the details of the other layers much easier.

That said. I recommend picking this up.

Surely it's nice to drop a hint and leave several possibilities. Some report Gargun to be there, some report renegade Sindarin.

If we finally map every square inch then we'll have a gloriously detailed world but no space left for individual GM/Player creativity. An unlabelled point of interest is ... an opportunity.
How would you exploit it. I know what I did with it and I'm not telling. What would each of you do with it? Is it the rabbit hole that links direct to heart of Yashain? Is it the place where the first victim of the red plague is buried and gods help the island if the body is disturbed. Is it where ... (fill in the gap) ...

Now it's been labelled what are the nominations for where we should create a new unlabelled point of interest?

Hmm. I just picked up the interactive version and though it's a nice map, I'm not overly impressed. Unless it's not functioning correctly, mine does not show the political boundries... all I get is just the names of the major settlements and geographical features. It's nice... but I really expected more for $25. I think I'll stick to CGI's maps. :(

Gothmog - you need to turn "on" those layers.

We provided a guide to this here:
http://www.kelestia.com/node/376

It certainly does show more than you are seeing.

Thanks for this feedback. I will actually put these two requests on the list of "things to do".

Because we allow those who have purchased our products to re-download them when we update, once we get around to adding these functions, you'll be able to get them simply by re-downloading the files.

Hmm... I guess I'm a little slow today. Jeremy was helpful in steering me in the right direction. After figuring out the "layers" problem I was having. I can now say that I'm most pleased with the product! :D It will become the center piece of my game since I'm slowly moving everything over to the laptop. No more hauling 10+ binders of Harn material to game night.

Thanks Jeremy! 8)

As long as I have electrickery this map will be a tribute to Robin's creation, for sure. I also have a paper version framed for when the power is out.

The cool thing about the interactive map is that you can enlarge it to 400% without losing detail and pixelating the image. I grab sections of map and print them off for use in my games (at 400% enlargement). Saves lugging the entire map and I can easily access it if the laptop is a hassle.

Me too, I just got them on DVD, and my son and I have just watched them. He then went and read the Shek-Pvar rules and made a wizard character for himself, for us to play in a one on one.

Something that would be nice to see is a demo map.

Just something small and not very useful, but shows off all the features of your interactive map.

Is that possible?

Here is a sample of the interactive map at 400% resolution that I have been using in my current campaign. I have the trails, roads and gargun cave complexes layers turned on.
