Good Day to all,

I am new to the forum and on the search for a Pbem game I can join. I love the Harn World and enjoy the rule system. However, I cannot find anyone where I live who wishes to GM a Harn campaign. They wish to play AD&D, which I find too unrealistic (yes I know Harn is not real either)I am more of a player than GM which puts me in a bind. Anyway, I apologize if this is not the place to seek out a pbem game, but if I cannot play with a group in person, then pbem is my only other choice. Cheers.

I feel your pain, it sounds like my curse.

Have you considered the mud, called harshlands. Harshlands is set in harnworld and the timeline has reached Halene 748. The kaldorian king has just died and trobridge secured a freetown charter (purchased by the mangai) and sanctioned by both Tharda and Kaldor and thus marking the border of each realm.

While not a pbem it is a fair substitute. Several froum folk hang around in Harshalands, but being a mud with an on going history it has now deviated from established canon and is a p-harn (player-harn) all of which may mean it isn't for everyone. None the less would be cool to see you inside tha game.

Harshalnds is currently my only harnbased game in which I play and it would be nice to have a pile of players enough to make the game really come alive.

I'd also love to play in a table top game, if one ran in my region or even city.. but don't trust my skills to run a game as GM. I was so excited when warflail moved to Sydney... but alas still not game.

sigh

Thanks Algared, I will look into Harshlands and see if it will "fill the void".

I'm on a waiting list myself, it's been months so I can't see any spaces opening up soon. Anyone starting a game up, please consider me as a player too!
Most PbEMs last only four months before petering out in a silence filled fizzle, so be ready for it when it happens.

Writing is hard. :)

I'm running a small PBeM with my friends since it can be hard to sync schedules. Looking over the Yahoo! group archive, we've be at it since July 2002.

One thing it does is bring out the roleplayer in even the most hardened hack-n-slasher. You can't help but say *something* in a PBeM game and the stuff my players have come up wasn't what I expected when we started.

But darn it is SLOOOW. :) And synchronizing messages can be annoying at times. I believe Sophia's site had a nice intro to email gaming that we tried to use as a model but with limited success.

Enough of my rambling, I'm just trying to get to 300 posts. 8O

Good Day to All. I'm Mike and new to the forum. I'm strongly considering GMing a PBEM. It seems from this thread that at least Jim and gihk might be interested in playing. I'm awaiting the arrival of my own copy of the Harnworld boxed set, though I'm not completely new to Harn, so the game would not start right away.

I've played in several Harnic campaigns using HMc (HM2?) and read through quite a bit of the published material that Hrafnagud owned when I used to live near him. Of course, I'm not a grizzled veteran yet, so any of you hard core Harniacs might have to bear with my pHarn, but I do have alot of PBEM experience, especially with Call of Cthulhu. I'm reliable and would do my absolute best to keep the game from "lasting only four months before petering out in a silence filled fizzle....:

Basically, I'm trying to gauge interest with this post and perhaps determine what area of the island and or what type of campaign any interested parties might be up for.

Thanks, Mike

The Dreadful Marches forum is available to use as an online gaming resource, should people want it. It's unfortunate that Scott's life took over and prevented him from continuing, as there were many who enjoyed the game.

Thanks for the offer of Dreadful Marches, but I'm looking to run a smaller game, for about four players, give or take and just using e-mail.

The Olokand game looks a little to ambitious for me and the last thing I want to do is get my players hopes up for a lasting game and then have to bow out due to a lack of time and Real World commitments. Perhaps if I ever find myself with a whole lot of extra time on my hands...

Well, I am VERY keen to play in a Harn PbEM!

That said, I've been running a few games for a few years, I find I'm extraordinarily lucky with my players and their enthusiasm and great posting styles enthuse me to punch out turns every three days.

Well you can count me in, Morning Star. This way I can get my Hârn fix while on the road! Perhaps a new thread is in order to discuss details...?
