Sounds like someone is just a bit jealous. Congrats Matthias, he's a cutie. What's his name? Has we worn his papa's mail yet?

Well, I've faced worse challenges than this one... 8)

My name is Beate, as some of you know.. I'm married to Steffen. And together we have two little devil of the race 'kids', Storm and Brage.
Of medieval interest I'm also in the Batallie de Norvege, where I am Bailiff, and basicly squire for the knigths.

First time I hear of Harn was probably 6 years ago, when I met Steffen. But frankly I don't (didn't is more fitting now...) care much for roleplaying.

Last week Steffen wanted me to go to the Ivinia Con with him, wich I did, but just because I didn't have anything else to do. And my roleplaying career got a kickstart!! :D
I played Heart of Darkness, Deeper Dark and Shower of Silver. And loved it!

So now I've come home, registred on Harn Forum, planning a Winter Con, planning to GM Shower of Silver and started (well 'started' is maybe an excaggeration) my own scenario.

Yes, I think I like Harn...

Welcome Beate,

You name will no doubt be used by myself for many puns... (it is a lot easier to misuse than 'Steffen'); so I warn you beforehand. :D

As for roleplaying worlds, well Harn cant be beaten can it! Oh dear started already... :(

Also, Congrats Sir Eldean; I also have a young boy named Henry, but as you can see I have spelled his name correctly  :D . We'll have none of this continental behviour in this fief :!: :P

Hi Beate

Glad you enjoyed the scenarios and I hope Shower of Silver goes well with your players.

The game you played was the first time I’ve ever had an outright kill result in a Hârn game. But a CS arrow shot into the skull of a fleeing felon is likely to do that! 8O

There must be something wrong ith the adventure, Neil. When I playtested it, I had one of my players also kill the felon with a long range shot (CS to the Skull)... 8O

'tis bad luck! ;)

Oh, and of course: A very warm welcome, Beate! :)

Nope...it's the shot tables. We have a woodsman-type character who has been involved in exactly two combats. In the first one he "one shot-one killed" (at range) a Navehan assassin who was gunning for the Earl of Vemion. In the second he did the same, again at range, to the criminal suspect we were pursuing. At least in the second combat he shot twice (he missed the first time).

BTW - I play in J. Patrick McDonald's campaign in Kansas City. I've known about Harn since the 80's and have had material since then, but never a chance to play until this year (it is very hard to find more than 2 or 3 people willing to play Harn, and 3 + GM is the quorum). I've lurked on this site for several years without creating an account.

Welcome Fingolwyn. I sat in JPM's HarnCon Khax Deep game and I believe Thomas Shook played that FFF. That guy is lethal!

Oh, not really...but I think he sometimes takes it a bit easy on us when we do something foolish like volunteer to clear out Fana. Our group entered Khax Deep fairly early in the campaign and didn't have much trouble, though we didn't go past about level four or so. Once you get down a couple levels it does become rather dangerous. When we playtested it Patrick used maps from an old Judges Guild module, but I redesigned them for the Con to add a bit more challenge. Hopefully he'll be able to run it again at the next HarnCon and y'all can really get into it.

Well, I guess, time to introduce myself, too.

My name is Max and I got my first copy of Hârnmaster in 1989 from a local store in Munich. I played a longer campaign in the early 90s and some one-shots on local game events, but have not played on Hârn for several years. I recently rediscovered lythia.com and kethira.com and decided to start a play-by-email-campaign based on Chelemby. So far I am somewhat out of luck so far, since only two people want to join up to now. But I will start eventually - back to Hârn

Max.

I've had (and been interested in) Harn material since 100 Bushels of Rye in the early-80's, but never knew enough people willing to learn the system and play it before now. In the early-90's a friend of mine ran a homebrew system derived partially from Harn which I enjoyed greatly. For the past dozen years or so I've been running a homebrew campaign (low magic, low fantasy, heavily modified 2nd Ed AD&D) vaguely similar to Harn and often downloaded Fanon and converted it to my campaign. I never bothered creating an account or posting before now because I wasn't actually playing Harn and didn't feel especially welcome ("d20" and "D&D" seem to be fightin' words in these parts). Now that I AM actually playing some flavor of Harn and nothing else, that has changed.

I never stopped loving Hârnmaster, I guess. All the years, I have been in the autoshipping program of Columbia Games and never intended to stop playing on Hârn. On the other hand, I never really had time to create a decent campaign and was busy playing other stuff (Ars Magica, mostly). My last group broke up when I moved to another region in Germany, but this, on the other hand, opened the chance to start anew.

Best regards,
Max.

Welcome Fingolwyn, Ronix, Max and Beate!

My co-GM/player here in Colorado Springs reads the forum regularly, but lets me post all the questions. Most of the GMs probably have players that do the same thing.

Or others who love the setting, but are the only harnic within the local area and can't find folks to game with.

To uncloak or not to uncloak, that is the question...Well, since I've already started posting I might as well.

Starting collecting Harn when it was still sold as the "Encyclopedia Harnica". The maps drew me in and the writing kept me hooked. Gamed until the early 90's; until raising a family became overwhelming and the joys of my youth had to be put away... :( I kept track though and (very) occasionally managed to find the spare coin to buy something I could not live without.

Ended up moving to Las Vegas, where games of a different type prevail. Note that if you have ever been to Vegas, you know that role-playing is big-business. Just not in the way that the RPG community would recognize (or condone) but that is for a different thread.

However my liberation maybe at hand. No I'm not talking about divorce (I don't think), I'm talking about a return to Washington (no,no,no...the State of; not D.C.). Perhaps to game again, or perhaps just to dream... [-o<

GronkGroks,

You're in good company back up to Washington state, at least on the West side of the state. Roy (HF: redenton) runs a game up there in Tacoma and you could probably link up to pick his brain. I know I kick myself for not playing harn in the 90s when I was stationed in the same town and could have asked a ton of questions.

Paul

Ah a reply and so quickly...Thank you for the recognition. :D

Please note that I am constantly pruning/polishing my writing, so pay no attention to the edits. This forte is that it improves my meagre ability to communicate my thoughts. The foible is that original thoughts, spontanteous transmitted, is impossible. This is not a good habit when role-playing, or for adding comments in discussions. In the context of a forum thread it can be tiresome. But for actually creative writing it is invaluable.

As for my location in Washington; it will be initially in Port Angeles on the Olympic Pennisula, just across the Strait from Victoria on Vancover Island (Canada). Unfortunately most of my time (and my wife's) will be devouted to caring for our daughter. But (eventually) I hope to rejoin the RPG community at large and the Harnic community in particular. :fadein:

It's Shane here. I created this new account since I've been away from the forum (and Hârn) for so long. I wanted a fresh(er) start, so to speak, to go with my renewed interest in Hârn.

For those of you who don't know me, my other handle is Shane, which I plan to retire. I'm probably best known around here for the D20 Hârn Guide, boobie avatars, and my, shall we say, "liberal views" of Hârn which I have, at times, clashed with some of the more conservative forum members over.

I still hold to those liberal views, but I'm also quite interested in Hârn as written and I hope to explore that interest further without too much stigma carried over from my previous life here.

I was introduced to Hârn in Feb of 96. I joined the Hârnlist soon after as a complete noob and promptly started making a nousance of myself. In 2001 I moved to the Auran Hârn forum and then migrated here in Feb 2002 (I was user #18). Some time around then, after the release of D&D 3E, I put together, with lots of help from forum members, the D20 Hârn Guide in an effort to help introduce d20 players to Hârn. I also made some small contributions to Columbia Games' ill-fated d20 efforts. After that I was forever branded as "the d20 guy" even though I'm not a huge fan of d20. Since about mid 2003 nearly all of my posts have been about game systems and various mechanics. I'd now like to get back to discussing Hârn.

Hi all,

I'm Wylie, been into RPGs since the mid 80's, steadfast GURPSer since the late 90s. Got drawn into Harn lately by all the great fanon (and the loss of most of my RPG books to a burst pipe). I fell in love with the interlacing of the communities. I've found Asolade and Fethael hundreds absolutely enthralling.
