For anyone within driving range of Kansas City, a few of us are trying to arrange a weekend to get together for some Hârn gaming. This will be at the Hollis Center, site of the 2009 Hârn Con. No firm date yet, but it will be one of the weekends in July (but not the weekend of Independence Day).

I will be coming from the St. Louis area and know there are a couple others from eastern Missouri who frequent this forum. I am willing to drive or split gas money with others who want to cross the state.

If you're interested, post something here or email me using the button below.

Hollis Renewal Center will be the site for the Mid-West Harn Moot. Tentative dates are July 15-17.
Tentative Schedule:
Friday
6 PM Cookout
7 - 11 PM Session 1
Saturday
9 - 12 Session 2
1 - 5 Session 3
6 - 11 Session 4
Sunday
9 - 12 Session 5
1 - 5 Session 6 (if people want to stick around that long, we did not last year)
Hollis has some places to stay overnight at the cost of $50/night but that will include all the sessions. Persons coming for the day will be asked to donate per session. The Kaldor in Crisis block game will be played along with some great role-playing. Stay tuned for more details.

Despite an incredibly hectic travel schedule, I'm certainly planning on being there. Not sure what I'll run, but I'll come up with something...

I would love to stop by and meet some fellow Harniacs and maybe watch a session and get some feedback on some ideas and a not finished module.
Not sure of how much time I can spend (this is a busy weekend for me, Colour Guards at the Air Show the 16th and 17th in the morning, my son returning from LDAC/Ft Lewis on the 17th, my daughter and wife attending the Backstreet Boys concert on the 16th).

Plans for the Kansas City 2011 Hârn Moot have been finalized for the weekend of July 15-17. The event will take place at the Hollis Renewal Center, site of HârnCon 2009. The gaming will happen at the Meadow Cottage (second building on the right side of the road). Cost is $5/person/session + a chip in if you are around for Saturday's cookout. If you need directions or more info please contact Dave Mareske through email (dmareske at kc.rr.com) or by calling 913-441-2941.

Here's a tentative schedule:
Friday
  • Dinner on your own.
  • 6 PM: "Kaldor in Crisis" block game (version 1.2). The king of Kaldor has died and has left no clear plan of succession. Players use diplomacy and combat to get their faction leader crowned king! A block game based on the Kaldor Succession Crisis. Dave Mareske, GM.
Saturday
  • Breakfast on your own
  • 9 AM: Magraxas: The lair of the fearsome Magraxas is an abandoned Khuzan complex in the Sorkin Mountains north of Telumar. According to legend, Magraxas' lair holds a vast hoard of Khuzan gold and gems. In 690, a contingent of knights and soldiers of the Laranian Order of the Lady of Paladins sought to find and slay the beast. The solitary survivor described a horrible ambush in the mountains, with men and horses roasted alive, thrown to their deaths from great heights, or carried off, presumably to be devoured in Magraxas' lair. A dragon hunt for 4-6 players. Rob Barnes, GM.
  • Noon: Lunch Break, on your own
  • 1 PM: Gargun Revenge: Your gargun king has demanded the return of a tribal artifact stolen by a wizard who lives in a tower a day's journey from your lair. All players will play gargun. This session will use the Battlelust rules by Columbia Games. Dave Mareske, GM.
  • 5 PM: Cookout at the Cottage (burgers, brats, watermelon, chips, etc) and mini tournament (create a knight and joust your way to victory).
  • 6 PM: Men in White, Patrick McDonald, GM.
Sunday
  • Breakfast on your own
  • 9 AM: Session TBD
  • 1 PM: Depart

If you're interested in attending, please post here or contact Dave as mentioned above.

Very exciting! I have been in KC for a year and really need something like this. I just hope that you all will be kind to someone who is somewhat new to Hârn (but not gaming).
