There have been added many skills in the last years by CGI, especially in "hunting" and "tomes & scrolls". All of these are missing in the Page 4 of SKILLs in HM3 Basic rules.

So I started to create a "new" Skilllist. This is list is NOT finished and I want you to discuss the list. So feel free to make comments and suggestions so we can adjust the list together.

Skills with blue background are directly taken from an article with official details about OMG, properties and so on.

Skills with red background are skills that I found in Tomes & scrolls and that are not specified in any way. Some of them I treated as specialities of existing skills, some of them as new skills.

Regards,
Eorl

Some specializations can potentially be from more than one skill. Torture, for instance, can be the result of applying a detailed knowledge of anatomy (Physician) or psychology (Rhetoric -- specifically Intimidation). Either way, I would definitely consider it a specialization rather than a unique skill.

Things like Pvarism, Balshanism, Demonology, etc. I would classify as specialized Lore, and handle them essentially the same as Folklore as far as Skill Base, Sunsign, etc.

Palmistry and most other divinatory skills can be treated as unique skills, in most cases modeled on Runecraft or Tarotry. They won't be very common among the general population.

Warfare sounds to me like a type of Lore as well, although it would depend on the intended use (not sure where you referenced it). Practical uses of things like Siege Engines would fall to skills like Engineering, but Siege Tactics would be Lore, IMO.

The one key change I recommend is that Animalcraft be treated like Musician in that you MUST choose a specific animal and not just the blanket "I'm good with Animals" skill. If you don't, the typical farmer or herder will be just as skilled with horses as the Ostler who takes Horsecraft, and that's not the intent.

My own ideas toward the new skills:
www.lythia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12603 wrote:
Lore INT INT WIL • Tai+2 • SB×1 • [1 month]
Afarezirs, Balshanism, Demonology, Gytevsha, Kamil, Kubora, Khuzdul, Pvarism/Arcane, Pradeyalkri, Violet Bowl etc.

This skill can be only select as a specialization. So these increased a bit faster as a normal skill as the range of the knowledge area is quite limited. It would be also possible to use Folklore. But I dislike the idea that the player have knowledge in these topics only on basis of the non-specialised folklore skill.

Palmistry INT AUR WIL • Tai+2; Sko+1 • SB×1 • [1 month]
Foretelling, Guidance, Swindle.

Torture DEX INT WIL • Tai/Tar/Sko+1 • SB×2 • [1 month]
Interrogation, Punishment.

Whaling STR HRG WIL • Mas/Lad+2 • SB×2 • [1 month]
Harpooning, Beaching, Archery, Net whaling.

I prefere Torture as a skill instead a specialisten, when it includes traditional punishments (break on the wheel etc.).

Warfare could be an interesting addition, but I would put the focus to survival a battle, bravery & getting mentioned and tactics. Siege should be a specialization of engineering.

FWIW - Whaling skill is defined in the Hunting article, along with Hunting, Falconry, Trapping, Sealing, and Ratcraft.

I am quite aware that the details for Whaling are from the hunting article. But there are no specialization given.

What does the "(FU)" next to certain skills mean? (e.g. Physician, Cookery, Hunting, etc.)

I hate to tell you this, but it looks like you missed the Hunting changes (see page 6 of the Errata).

I updated the pages again, because I forgot the changes of Errata for Hunters, Foresters ans so on (as mentioned above).

I keept the "Lore-Skills" that are mentioned in "Tomes and Scrolls" as specialities of "Folklore". So this pdf contains some house rules. For me this fits better.
