Ever since I moved to the current format of this website, I’ve been using a plugin to provide that counter. Unfortunately, the author of the plugin no longer maintains the plugin and I’ve been dreading the time when it might stop working. That time as arrived, sad to say. I have some experience in the language (PHP), but I’m no expert. However, I have enough to make a workaround. It’s not pretty, but it will allow people to download the files they want, and still keep the counters ticking over for the authors.

If you have problems downloading a file, you will be able to find a direct link to it on the All Files page under the About menu item above.

Venârivè is the expansive region where for thousands of years peoples, religions, and nations have developed, traded, and clashed. It includes all the lands around the Venârian Sea and the regions which lie to the north and west, including the powerful empires of Ázeryàn and Dalkésh, the kingdoms of Tríerzòn and Shôrkýnè, and the lesser states of Hârn and Iváe.

The Player Guide is designed as a complement to Venârivè: Northwestern Lýthia.

Venârive: Northwestern Lýthia

This product is, in many ways, our core module. It provides key background and gaming material for Gamemasters and players to explore the wide region of northwestern Lýthia. Not only does it provide information on all the realms, kingdoms, empires and principalities of the region, but it provides guidance on their cultures and languages, social structures, law, military forces, economics and trade, the guilds, and on the daily life of people across the region.

This downloadable electronic product contains:

• a 250-page full colour module (with over 45 illustrations, more than 15 maps and over 30 arms and badges)
• a multi-layered interactive PDF map of Venârivè (with 45 different layers)
• a single-layered PDF map of Venârivè (with the ‘default’ settings for the main map)
• a 30-page Venârivè Index (also available as a free download)
• Venarive Tables (relevant data from the Venârivè module in a spreadsheet format)

Venârivè: Northwestern Lýthia is supported by two free downloads, which also provide a good preview of the content of the module:

• Venârivè Player Guide, a 20-page guide for players to the Venârivè region.
• Venârivè Index, a 30-page reference index, included in the main product, but also available as a stand-alone download.

The site not only features a brand new, cleaner and higher quality design, but provides us with a more robust platform to roll out new features for our customers.

Just log in to the forum, go to your User Control Panel (you’ll find that in the upper right, just underneath the header bar), and look down the left-hand menu for Digests.

All the options are fairly self-explanatory, but to be clear about one thing I found, you will have to subscribe first and click the submit button on that page, then go back to the Digests options to customise it to your taste. Just be sure to click the submit for each page you change (there are about four different pages). But to repeat, subscribe first, then change the other options.

This Guide will assist players (and Gamemasters) new to the Chéler people gain an overview of the kingdom, its major city and the people who live there. It provides an introduction to the culture, history, politics and geography of the kingdom and its surroundings, making players more at home and able to enjoy this fascinating setting.

The guide is the perfect accompaniment to the Keléstia Productions series of publications covering Chélemby – including Kingdom of Chélemby, Chélemby: City of the Sea Kings, and the Chélemby Interactive Map.

Hávnhus Interactive PDF map
Today we have also released another interactive, multi-layered PDF map for Chélemby City. This is a high-quality version of the Hávnhus (I34) map included in Chélemby: City of the Sea Kings. This multi-layered map will enable GMs to decide what information they wish to share with players, and enable them to print out those features they wish. The Hávnhus interactive map can be downloaded from http://www.kelestia.com.

Chéler Player Guide

Unfortunately, a couple of years later—around about the time I purchased a heap of new domains from them—they underwent an ownership change. They suddenly became very expensive, and very hard to work with. Overnight, it became incredibly easy to transfer a domain name from another hosting service to them, but impossibly difficult and incredibly expensive to transfer domains away from them (eg, it took me three hours to just find the page which allowed transfers away from them, and then it started to get difficult).

I have let lapse a number of domains I had with them, and transferred the three domains I really wanted to keep (including Lythia.com) away from them to my current hosting service and registrar (Dreamhost). I still gag at the cost! Should I ever want to, transfers away from Dreamhost are free, and easy to do. So why does Easyspace make it so hard? I don’t know, and I no longer care (although I suspect greed plays a big part).

But one domain that I didn’t bring across, and which is now in a “redemption” period is “harnlist.com”. This was always just the domain name for the website which supported the HârnList (ie, the email distribution list) itself, but the information it once held has long since been ported to Lythia.com. The mailing list itself was always “harnlist@lythia.com”. I don’t know why I thought I might need the domain, frankly, but I bought it and kept it going for many years. And now it’s time to let it go…

Fly free, little domain name! Keep clear of domain squatters and spamvertisers…if you can.

In other words, people, don’t go to this domain anymore, because I don’t own it or control it. And at a cost of £99, I’m not going to redeem it, either.

Chélemby City is the largest and most detailed description of a city ever produced for HârnWorld. Over five years in the making, this publication covers a vast range of topics and provides Gamemasters and their players with not only a fully-described city but many plot hooks and adventure opportunities.
