Atlas Keléstia – Trzn-B2 Âlwin published

September 11, 2017

The Land Awakens…

Keléstia Productions are pleased to announce the publication of Atlas Keléstia #47.

This issue describes map square B2 (Âlwin) on the Emélrenè map. It is our most complex Atlas Keléstia issue yet – the map index is 50 pages long, and includes data for more than 420 entries.

This issue of Atlas Keléstia covers the Kingdom of Emélrenè’s Âlwìna Shire and a number of surrounding areas. Âlwìna Shire is Emélrenè’s most populous and lies at the heart of the kingdom. Âlwin city is the second largest urban centre of the realm and jealously guards its rights and privileges. The ancient castle of Modána and thirteen keeps are also found in this area.

Most of the great clans of the realm hold lands here. Three of the great clans with seats in the region are in danger of ‘extinction’ due to small sizes, but in all cases, there are sub-clans with an interest in the outcome. The region is also the home of one of the clans descended from the old royal house, with associated tensions.

Other ancient tensions continue in the Môrtellyn Hundred, a region inhabited by clans with links to the area’s dark past. Nearby in the Léngardhel hills, brigandage is a growing problem, drawn by the gem mining in the region.

But most alarming is the ‘awakening’ of almost all of the Ethereal Zones (Laellyn) in the region, and the growing number of strange sightings, incidents and creatures in the area. The Émhlè rangers and the Laránian Order of the Lion Banner are both increasingly stretched to respond to these issues.

Character Sheets & Profiles

November 12, 2016

A number of Hârn fans have developed character sheets or profiles…even whole portfolios…over the years. They’re gathered here to make it easy for other fans to download and make use of.

The author of this simple 2-page character sheet is unknown.

This character portfolio was developed by Anders Bersten and is for HânMaster 2 (HM2). There are two PDFs meant to be printed and filled in manually (the fields are not editable).

This 3-page character sheet was developed by Andy Staples from ideas by Thorvald Neumann, and edited by Kerry Mould. It’s meant for HârnMaster Core (HM3 or HMC). There is a PDF with non-editable fields and a Word document.

Another character portfolio, this one is by Bill Gant for HârnMaster Gold. It is a multi-paged Excel spreedsheet that is totally editable, with a number of fields being filled by VBScripts, and a PDF user manual to explain how to use it. This is a deluxe character profile for use by the ‘serious’ Hârn gamer. Which means it is quite complex, even complicated.

Anders Bersten’s contribution is the first in a series of character sheets for Hârnmaster Gold, each with their own customized cultural flavour. This one is the 26 page long Feudal Edition.

If there appears to be enough demand, Anders will follow this up with the 39 page Viking, followed by the Imperial and Tribal Editions. The Viking Edition will see the introduction of a few elements imported and merged from the Pendragon system, specifically the Virtues & Vices, Traits and Passions tokens.

Here is a character sheet for HârnMaster version 3 by Linus Rowedda. This looks exactly like the sheets you can buy from Columbia Games Inc. but the PDF has editable fields. Not all the entries are editable, and no calculations are done automatically, but quite a lot of the data that never changes is able to be entered on the form on your computer, so it will look quite nice when printed. There’s also a journal sheet with moon phases and religious days attached for player notes, which is a nice add-on.

A comprehensive character portfolio by David Sprinkle. The sheets are designed to simplify character creation as much as possible. Skills are listed out, along with the formulas for the associated Skill Bases. This allows the player to open new skills during play without necessarily needing to refer to the rulebook. For those that use skill development rolls at the end of each session in order to improve skills over time, three checkboxes in front of each skill name are used to track skill usage during the gaming session. The sheets were created with a duplex printer in mind. Print them back to back as follows: character/combat; mystic/spells; campaign/campaign flipside. The NPC sheet is single sided. They have been left as separate PDF pages and combined into a single PDF in the suggested order for convenience.

HM3 Character Profile Download
The HM3 Character Profile is an all-in-one character sheet for HârnMaster 3rd Edition by Bill Gant that records a character’s attributes, skills, equipment, injuries, weapons and armour, notes on friends and foes, animal companions, your character’s religious calendar and quests, and (if applicable) divine invocations and Shek-Pvar spells. Calculations are made ‘on the fly’. No matter whether your PC is an armoured man-at-arms on foot, a mounted knight, an Ilviran priest or Odivshe Shek-Pvar, this tool will take the effort out of keeping track of your character’s statistics so you can focus on roleplaying. Also included is a comprehensive manual that describes each section of the HM3 Character Profile.

Friends, Foes & Followers — Men In White

September 28, 2016

Part 13 of 14 in the series Friends, Foes & Followers

The humans of Kethira are not ready for the reality of their world. Approximately 720 years ago, coinciding with the founding of Emelrene and Melderyn, much magic and arcana was driven underground. The existence of most magical or extraordinary beasts faded from human consciousness with the exception of a few species of creatures too large in number to be totally forgotten, including the gargun, ivashu, dragons, fey, and the odd chimera.

All creatures, races, and magical beasts were allowed to join polite human society provided they suitably disguise themselves as ordinary humans and register as outsiders with the Melderyn or Emelrene Registry of Arcana. This secret is the most jealously guarded knowledge of the Ancient and Esoteric Order of the Gentle White Hand. Few outsiders know that all that stands between their simple world and the chaos of the abyss are…the Men in White!

Friends, Foes & Followers — Parts 1, 2, 3

September 27, 2016

Part 1 of 14 in the series Friends, Foes & Followers

Friends, Foes & Followers is a GM resource that uses a common format for presenting 2 pages of information about a character. The characters can be used in any way the GM sees fit; as NPC opponents, helpers or even emergency PCs for that unexpected player, making these resources no GM should be without.

This zip file contains 36 fully developed characters, including a yeoman, three barbarians, twelve guildsmen, thief, brigand, ten commoners, five nobles, and three priests.  It replaces FFF 1 (5432 downloads), 2 (4552 downloads) and 3 (4096 downloads).

This updated and revised edition of FFF 1, 2 and 3 contains all the same characters, but upgraded to the format finalized in FFF 12.  It incorporates many changes, big and small, including removing the name from the front page to allow the GM to rename the character to fit his or her needs, updated index numbers, and a full HarnMaster Character Profile.

These 36 FFFs are produced by the Harn Writers Guild (HWG).  They are written by Kerry Mould (31), Michael Bjurshagen (3), Sophia Tribad (1) and Jeremy Baker (1).  They are illustrated by Richard Luschek (32) and Juha Makkonen (4).

Fate of Hârn

March 21, 2016

Fate of Hârn v3.0 (version 2016-03-20) is an adaptation of the FATE Core rules by Evil Hat Games for use in the HârnWorld setting.  It is best understood if you have access to the FATE Core rules, which are available for Pay What You Want at DrivethruRPG.  Also included is a Cheat Sheet that has proven useful to players; ‘Fate on a Page’ (actually 4 pages), my GM reference sheets; and the most recent Character Sheet that has been developed to accommodate the changes introduced with this version.
This version has been subject to extensive testing at both the occasional NorthCons (my thanks to Andy Gibson and Neil Thompson), recent IviniaCons and by the group I GM in Suffolk where I’ve been using these rules to play through the Dark Rethem Campaign using Fate.  My thanks to those players who were entirely new to Harn and relatively new to Fate — their contribution through our weekly sessions has been invaluable.  I have been posting observations about my learning about Fate Core, and this implementation of it, here (link to HârnForum) and on the Friends of Harn facebook Page.
I do not expect this version to be subject to much change until the Suffolk group complete the Dark Rethem Campaign in April/May.  However, you observations and feedback to this continuing work in, progress are welcome here (link to HârnForum).

Nuem-Yael Map Pack

July 28, 2015

This map pack contains a number of TIFF images of small villages and hamlets, including Beoran, Bilonin, Cundras, Evire, Fehin, Fezy, Fosumo, Himlet, Kedic, Kelime, Labret, Molon, Pouka, Purque, Racyn, Rythik, Saserus, Yael, and Zonun. The settlements are strung along the Nuem Trail in southern Melderyn, which eventually connects to Gythrun Castle. This is an area of Melderyn where the Solori tribesmen are active.

There is no text with the maps, just the low resolution images, so GMs will have supply their own information about each hamlet, its inhabitants and the surrounding lands.

Battlelust Block Rules

May 7, 2015

This large (35MB) download contains the details for an alternative Battlelust system for Hârn using the Block Wars style. There was some play testing conducted some years ago but it’s far from finished. My hope is that someone in the forums will take up the gauntlet and complete this so everyone in the community can benefit as its highly unlikely I will not have the time to finish it myself.

Note from Editor: if anyone wants to complete this project, by all means use the forums to communicate with Joseph and everyone else. I’ll happily update the download with new and updated material.

Maps: Anfla & Kamace

May 5, 2015

A series of five mapped squares covering the islands of Anfla and Kamace and other islands that are separated from the main island of Hârn by the Emaba Strait. A sixth map combines all 5 squares, plus a sea square that completes the larger poster map of the area. These high quality maps have been completed in the standard Atlas Hârnica style developed by Columbia Games Inc.

Hârn Settlement Generator

April 3, 2015

The “Harn Settlement Generator” is a Java-based application that allows you to generate settlements based on the Columbia Games Inc. product HârnManor and the free HârnTown article. You can generate one of three types of settlements (a MANOR, a KEEP, or a CASTLE) by entering the information, or randomly by selecting the type you want to create. Check out the README file for more info. Don’t forget the free HârnSettlement and IviniaThran for some additional settlement generation options.
